Kind of brilliant move and give an hindsight on how he could be rumored to be the highest paid actor in some 12 month stretch....

"Brilliant" in terms of finding new ways to leech off of everyone else's decency for the hollow pursuit of money you don't need.

What an asshole.

You know what they say, you can't spell Hollywood without wood.

And what does wood go into?

Exactly.

Wow, that is going to make producers eager to hire him......

It's one thing for Wahlberg to ask for extra money for the reshoots since it might involve more work, ,but to demand a million bucksjust  for approval..what a jerk move.

Exactly in that sense yes.

That said they could have felt that it was not a move about decency at all, but a stunt trying to cash in/save financially a movie that was going on. And it is a bit hard to argue that they were wrong considering the final result.

And what exactly is the claim against him?

It's clickbait, if that's all they have, it won't turn into a real scandal or anything.

Marky Mark will be donating the $1.5M he made from the reshoots to Time's Up while his agency will be donating $500K. Not surprised, it was the only way either was gonna emerge from this looking good.

Stops the bleeding, though they are probably more worried about his "likability" (and bankability) being hurt than anything else.

Nothing to do with him being a dick or not, he kinda seems like it, but I will say. Its hollywood people get paid. This type of stuff happens everywhere ALL the time, I see it in promos even.

Spike Lee just played A major network ( probably shouldnt say) for fools with us on our job, my boss said it was hilarious and that when the Network agreed to his deal spike lee straight up died laughing in his seat saying he couldn't believe how easy that was  (actually a really funny story, no one has ever made 250k extra more easily than spike lee did, spike took advantage of the Network not the other way around) He has never put any less effort into shooting or caring about anything ether lol. Budget was 2.5 times larger because of spike's lack of care.

If you can get a muti billion dollar company to give you millions with barley any effort, why not.

The Farley brothers got paid like 1m bucks for 2 day shoot only to fuck it up so bad and do barley any effort they had a regular 10k a day promo director reshoot it. budget over doubled. They get paid the same.

Thats how lots of people see it out here. Its not a person giving you money, its some random cooperation, they don't feel like they are screwing someone over.

Honestly if you found out how much all these actors and directors get paid for shit and what there contracts look like you'd probably think 95% of people are assholes.

whose decency? both parties (studio and director) more likely than not did the reshoots out of their own interests. there was nothing noble about the move.

whose decency? studio did it out of fear of bad publicity and scott did it cause plummer was his original choice. there’s hardly anything noble about that.

And Spacey behavior was quite well known I think, including some questionable on sets.

It is possible Walbergh identified that from the financier point of view like a purely maximization of their money, when they agreed to those re-shoot and maximised their return.

But it is possible that it was a production company put into a strange corner by a powerful director and that feared to loose a lot on this release, to be blackmailed by someone that was just strategically using a close in is contract is still sounding unethical business behavior, the kind that would make people stop working with him in the future.

Is the Wahlberg outage thing for real?

Shouldn't the blame be on Michelle Williams 's agent for the shitty deal?

It's the other stuff he did.  He held the producer's feet over the fire and told them that unless he gets paid he would not approve of them casting Plummer.  I agree with you that he is not to be blamed for the salary disparity, but he is to be blamed for the other stuff.

He and his agency have done damage control, although it is a good gesture.  He is donating his entire 1.5 million dollar reshoot salary to the Times Up defence fund.
