Weekend Thread - Insidious 29.6M, Jumanji 37.2M, TLJ 23.7M, TGS 13.8M, PP3 10.3

Recommended Posts

With a $23,728,944 fourth weekend, if TLJ manages a 3x off of this weekend, it ends at $620.15m. It's going to be down to the wire against Avengers. The Labor Day expansion that Avengers got that added another 5-6m might actually end up being the difference between it and TLJ.

And speaking of It, @CJohn, do you think Insidious' blockbuster performance here in PT was helped by It + Annabelle 2 both increasing people's appetite for horror? Cause ever since The Conjuring 2, it seems people go a lot more to horror films, but last year, there was a downright explosion of horror here in the country, and those two were at the forefront. I think that they really opened the doors for horror to perform stronger than ever.

They sold Insidious as a James Wan movie and pushed he was the director of The Conjuring. Considering how popular The Conjuring Universe has become in the last 2 years that might have greatly helped, yes. IT selling 200.000+ tickets plus Jigsaw also selling 90.000+ tickets didn't hurt either.

Insidious: Chapter 2 - 8.707 tickets sold on OW

Insidious: Chapter 3 - 7.245 tickets sold on OW

Insidious: The Last Key - 19.824 tickets sold on OW

How is this even possible man? @MCKillswitch123

I’m just tracking it next to Rogue One and I would think it can reach $630m. This weekend was 7.5% above R1’s fourth weekend. R1 made $55m rest of the way.

$55m x 1.075 = $59m plus $572.7m leads to a total of $631.7 million.

Another Jumanji hold that was better than NATM's, and with a better increase last weekend. Gotta wonder how high it can actually go here. It's having some phenomenal legs.

I'm thinking it could challenge or at least get close to 400m at this point, which would be amazing.

Jumanji, if it follows Night at the Museum from here on out, would hit $381M. It has thoroughly trounced the holds for Night at the Museum so far.

If Jumanji can get $30M this weekend (a 19.8% drop versus Night's 27% decline the same w/e), it would be on its way to a $400M domestic finish.
