That looked good.

 

Though you can't really tell from that trailer, it could be great, it could fall on its face. But it's off to a promising start at least. It felt like the "right tone" that a movie like this should have.

I'll be curious to see how it performs, clearly WB is confident because they moved it up from January 2020. Thinking $30-40m OW but could possibly be nearer $50m if they really ramp up marketing

I don't know what to think tbh. Parts without vampires were great. but vampires are pure shit. I really don't think that ghost stories (though The Shining wasn't just that) and vampires gel.

Oof. That's gonna polarize people.

 

It's weird, because whether King fans like it or not, The Shining is really Kubrick's legacy now. Interested to see how it plays out.

Not really. The ending is very different.

 

...but I think King's still gonna approve of the ending.

I'm not surprised they've made changes from the book as there are things in the Shining book that don't happen in the Shining film.

Seems quite different to the book. This seem to try to sell itself as a pure sequel to “the shining” with all the ghosts and stuff while in the book all this is a small part and the soul eaters , not vampires, are the main villains. The book is definitely not as horror-oriented as this trailer seems to be imply about the film version but it is understandable that they will take huge liberties for box office purposes.

Jack Torrance's ghost  does appear in the novel Doctor Sleep but I'm not sure if they'd be able to get Nicholson as he's retired from acting unless they use a stand in like in Blade Runner 2049 or Rogue One
