yykes at that Red Sparrow TC. I can't believe Joy made more than RS. I guess it's back to Oscar baits for JLaw

ughhhhhhhh...at least she doesn't have just blockbusters..hopefully her next movie won't be divisive.

I think this is going to have a Sixth Sense like kind of repeat value.  There are just too many pop culture references in here and it's impossible to pick them all up in one sitting.  People are going to have to go back for 2nds and 3rds.

haven't seen it yet, I feel that an Edgar Wright or James Gunn could, maybe Spielberg pulls off the kids/character better but i think the other directors would pull off the vr world better

Let's not throw around heinous accusations like that, come on now.

CinemaScore means very little though. What matters is word of mouth. Wonder Woman had A+ legs with an A cinemascore. Inception had great legs with a B+ cinemascore.

I feel like the concept of confirmation bias needs to be stressed at a very young age so people understand not to fall victim to it.

I would agree with that completely.

Anyway I think that Ready Player One could have mediocre legs or it could have good legs or it could have great legs. We just have to wait and see what happens. People hate doing that but that is the truth. I think CS can be used as a guideline but when Power Rangers gets an A we need to not act like it's a faultless system. I like Power Rangers by the way but that film did not get A word of mouth.

It is what everyone is saying. And the Production+P&A budget is likely to be closer to 300m than 200. For example, according to Deadline Jumanji had a production budget of just 90 something but the P&A was about 160 which is huge. I am sure this one will be close to 300 as well.

Definitely isn’t anywhere near to as high as $300m p&a.

Star Wars Last Jedi worldwide P&A was $185m (Deadline).

That's why they said Production+P&A.

With a break-out in China I think >475 globally is very likely for RPO.

120 dom

130 china

225 os-china

 = 475

Needs pretty much exactly that to put the combined worldwide total of all Berg movies over 10B.

"RPO" will be the 1st Spielberg Movie (As Director) I'll be seeing on the Big Screen in 10 years.  "Crystal Skulls" in 2008 was the last.   Very excited because the source material appeals to 70's and 80's babies.  (As Producer), I've seen "Jurassic World", The first 4 Transformers Films, (Sorry Last Knight, I just couldn't do it, maybe bumblebee solo if it looks good), "Super 8" and "MIB 3".  As for the Midnight number, pretty good.  Looking like a solid Holiday opening.  Maybe WOM can help from what I'm hearing Steven handled the Nostalgia good.

Indy 5 might be enough to pop him over 5B domestic as well.

Berg still killing it at 71.

Mind you he could easily still be doing "Jurassic Park" films and smashing the box office but he has chosen to pass it to the next generation.  Steven is doing passion projects he wants to at this point in his career.  He has nothing to prove Box Office Wise.  But it would be nice for him to have another 100 Million Dollar hit on his resume.  I  mean "Lincoln" run was fantastic honestly, that was his last great box office run to me.  "Indy 5" is to close out the series on a high note with "Skulls" being polarizing (Though it did very well box office wise).
