MPR really strong today - getting really (uncomfortably) close to Aquaman on movietickets.com

Well, yesterday on MT Aquaman was usually around 23-24% and MPR was 16-17% (and AQM made 2x as much overall) so I wouldn't put too much into it.Β Β  23-21 right now.Β

Β

Both should have good days.Β

I think it wasn'tonly that they couldn't adapt, probably more impactful: the audience wouldn't accept the tries to adapt.

Β

Plus shm is really a versatile 'genre' (if it can even be considered a genre at all). While the current movies are mostly action/ action-comedy, there are so much more they could do: Watchmen is neo noirΒ Β and The Joker looks more like a thrillerΒ than the "traditional" shm.Β Western style films can be made with characters like Jonah HexΒ and with horror we have John Constantine, Swamp Thing and other magic users.Β Even Batman himself can be used in a murder mystery film.Β

Β

I think in the next decade we will see DC and Marvel be more experimental with their movies.Β

Not so much now. It happened more on OD and (to a lesser degree) the day after.Β

Β

But again what were people saying on OD? Like where they saying it was going to end with sub 100 million or something?

Get back to me when H&W starts running ads telling moviegoers that critics put a hit out on the movie.

Β

Β

Considering Sony couldn't wait to get rid of it, I can't see that happening.

Β

Mostly a lot of ridicule and laughter. I think there were one or two posts saying there was a sub-100 chance (admittedly most weren’t). It was more of a tone thing than specific numbers.Β

Before release, someone at Sony pulled the excuse of the movie "just finishing editing" as the reason it didn't screen for critics.

RT Audience,

ITSV 94%

AQM 82%

BB 78%

MP 68%

Vice 62% <1k

HolmesΒ 19% <1k

Β

Vice and Holmes are new so they may go down substantially compared to the rest.

Thank you, hope MPR can make around $ 10M both wed / thurs and then $ + 30M on second weekend

Will be a relief after the terrible debut

Β

So, just to be clear, you call a movie's opening around Christmas with something between $20m and $30m terrible?

Β

Not saying that will happen (no way), but that term seems to me a bit too.... 'Too... fill in any word for exaggeration'

give me a name? Who here at the forums is dismissing it? People are saying it's going to finish somewhere between 150 - 200. How exactly is that dismissing it?

You missed some .... 'discussions' in International
