John Wick: Chapter 4 | March 24, 2023 | RIP Lance Reddick

Recommended Posts

This was Avengers Endgame for DTV action heads.

Best Wick film by far. New action movie classic. Haven't felt this psyched walking out of an action film since Fury Road. The IMAX bass was insane, the opening punches shook the entire room, my entire body was vibrating.

Spoiler

A lot of elements in this reminded me of video games, in the best possible way. The dragon's breath shotgun thing seemed like an amazing weapons mod lol.

im watching this tomorrow. looks utterly spectacular and the top 6-7 action movie ever made(mad max fury road. die hard, top gun maverick, and terminator 2, matrix 1, mission impossible  MI: Fallout). Keanu reeves is now the greatest action star ever in the history of hollywood. He is a legend.

Top 9 specialist (non superhero) action stars in history of hollywood (after this film). Only Bruce is retired due to dementia.

1. Keanu Reeves

2. Tom Cruise

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger

4. Sylvester Stallone

5. Bruce Willis* retired from acting

6. Vin Diesel

7 The Rock

8. Jason Statham

9. Liam Neeson

* = denotes retired.

Top 7 non superhero action movies ever in history of hollywood

Mad Max Fury Road

Terminator 2

Die Hard

Top Gun Maverick

John Wick 4

Matrix 1

MI: Fallout

Nic Cage has only been in about 3-4 great action films his entire career. Hes mainly a drama/arthouse actor .eg. adaptation, leaving las vegas. The above actors only specialise in action only and atleast 5-6 good ones.

Vin Diesel IS the F&F franchise, hes the face of it, one of the best action franchises ever, that has to earn a top rating.

Stallone is top 4- rambo and rocky are two of the biggest action franchises.

Arnold has been in so many great action movies- Terminator 1&2, total recall, Predator, true lies. He's fantastic in those, those are classics.

The rock is obviously there due to F&F and other action projects.

Look it’s John Wick, you get a pretty thin plot, a cool ass world, stunning neon-lit cinematography, a sound mix that’s not afraid to kick you in the face and some of the best action choreography coming out of western cinema. That’s the base standard for the franchise.

This has the best supporting cast of the films, but Donnie Yen is the MVP. His relationship with John really gives Chapter 4 a much needed layer of emotional depth, as well as the level of action he brings to the film.

The Berlin section in the middle is weak, it’s redundant and the action was hit or miss, jettison it. Scott Adkins is having a ball in his role though and I’ve been waiting for Hollywood to take advantage of how funny and charming he is.

The final section in Paris is nothing short of thrilling, it’s one mind blowing set peice after another, featuring some all timers of action cinema. The stunt work deserves a round of applause and is worth the price of admission alone.
