So it might show at these cinemas but not necessarily on the IMAX screens? Conflicting information...

Yeah, need to wait for some time but for sure trailer end credits were promising.

Probably, there should be a confirmation by Late Feb/Early March.

This is going to be the most predictable oscars ever for sure in a long time. Betting odds are also showing the same.

minus couple of tech awards to barbie and Best Supp Actress, Oppeneheimer should sweep everything else.

I think this is one of those years where there shouldn't be surprises. There's so much goodwill for the current slate of predicted winners that upsets would just feel out of place.

Nolan won Best Director at the Directors Guild Awards tonight. Big step on the way to potentially winning Best Director at the Oscars.

Stayed up just to wait for this. Happy for him!

God Nolan deserves all of this and more for bringing Josh back into mainstream and making such an epic film. His next film should be another mega blockbuster.

He said he's interested in horror movies. I am definitely looking forward to that, even though I can't really handle scary movies lol might be the first scary movie I am willing to go willingly and not cover my eyes.

Oppenheimer Budget -

You could look at Oppenheimer's cast and say that no way they had a $100m budget

Because you mentioned Oppenheimer's budget on another thread - any thoughts on this?

New Mexico has an "Uplift Zone" which 2022 didn't include the physical sets Oppenheimer built on Ghost Ranch (definition was changed and I now think that no longer applies). Uplift Zone spending went from ~5M a year to 50M and then back down to 15M (https://www.nmlegis.gov/handouts/RSTP 091823 Item 6 NM Film Presentation.pdf). The biggest productions in those areas were (1) Oppenheimer and (2) Ghosted. Oppenheimer lacks a press release about this but press reports said they filmed for 3 days at ghost ranch and spent $3M on physical production. Contrast that with Ghosted which has a press release mentioning non-timeline filming data.

https://nmfilm.com/production/ghosted

Quote

Ghosted

Estimated New Mexico Crew Employed: 411

Estimated New Mexico Background talent employed: 42

Locations: Socorro and Sandoval Counties, NM

I don't think we can estimate how much money Oppenheimer spent from the tax credit data (unless there's a way to nail down more specifically ghosted shooting schedule) but am I wrong?

I need to dive deeper into this. Without promising, I'll try to have a clearer picture for this during the weekend. My head is in Arrakis right now plus I have on my list to do an international BO estimates and updated budget breakdown for Dune during the weekend too. That said, I loved Oppenheimer and will happily dig deeper into this.

Ghosted shooting schedule would help of course. 3 days of shooting and $3m in the US for Oppenheimer is in the ballpark (without big set building) but devil is in the details. Hold my beer and wait a couple days.

It won SAG Ensemble, it's so locked for Best Picture it's not even funny.

it's been exactly 20 years since a movie that made over 300M dom and 900M WW won Best Picture.

There’s something funny about all the same actors being on the exhausting awards circuit for weeks and weeks. Must instil a weird camaraderie, even among competing films. As much as movies about the movie business can be annoying I feel like it’s quite fertile ground for a comedy. I know Christopher Guest did For Your Consideration but that was about actors who expected to get nominated and didn’t.
