Gotta say it is eyebrow-raising that Giacchino isn't coming back, given he's been the house composer for so long and his work on the original is pretty iconic, so much that they used it in the teaser. Would've thought he'd be jumping to score the sequel. He is scoring IF so it's not like he's been taking a break.

Yeah this will make a killing.  Will be First 100 million 3 day weekend in 11 months. That's insane to think about.

Almost a year where nothing opened higher than an Ant-Man movie with trash reviews :hahaha:

This looks like a complete retread of the first film to me? New emotions kick the old ones out -> they make a mess -> old emotions find their way back -> emotions realise they have to work together is what this looks like to me. Not impressed.

Also, I still don't get where these emotions are on other people. The mom still doesn't have them even in this film. Do they just end up merging into the old ones by the end or something? There better not be some lame excuse like they disappear once people grow up or something, like adults don't feel stuff like embarassment or envy.

I didn't want to be a buzzkill but... yeah. Seems like a lot of the issues I had with the first film are also present here with the overblown worldbuilding that doesn't hold up to scrutiny. Would've preferred a more low-key teen comedy just with personified emotions.

Idk how that will translate to box office though since the first movie was so big; but between that, Pete Docter, Hader and Kaling, and now evidently Michael Giacchino not returning it feels more and more like an elevated Disney+ special.

By releasing this now, I guess Disney wanted this trailer to be attached to KFP4 this weekend. Smart.

Disney wants it to be shown with KP4. Not the same as attached.

But ,yeah, the trailer was really good, I was pretty skeptical about thie one.

Just watched the trailer.

It's gonna make bank.

Why? Coz it is super super super relatable.

"that's not gonna haunt us for the rest of our lives at all"

"Well, THAT'S a preview of the next 10 years"

Perfectly captures the angst that is teenagedom. And "fear of the future" as well as not fitting in in new surroundings/situations, which is the subtext of the entire trailer, is relatable to people of all ages.

As for any supposed inconsistencies in world building? Witty writing and strong performances can paper over a lot of so-called sins.

Might not make as much bank in today's landscape as it would pre-COVID, but consider me sold that this should do well.
