Jumanji 2. But that's the exception, usually movies with negative likes ratio bomb.

There's actually nothing wrong with it being a musical, if that's what Phillips / the filmmakers wanted to do, then go for it. The problem is that it's half arsed. Making a musical with LADY FREAKING GAGA but not making new songs. Making a whole album of original songs but then binning it off. Trying to mislead the audience with marketing to hide it being a musical.

Assuming walkups are bad, think true FRI might end up with $13-14M. Normally that would mean $46-47M weekend but SAT sales are poor so we may see a drop from true FRI tomorrow.

What a goddamn disaster. This franchise is beyond washed. Take it behind the barn and shoot it. A mercy killing at this point.

 

People saying that 2024 could match or even surpass 2023 really jinxed it. They saw the (non-May) summer films and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and flew too close to the sun. At least Moana 2and Sonic 3 (and Wicked, fingers crossed) won’t faceplant.

Be honest a really bad action minded joker movie would have done likely 150-200 million at the least imo

I'm coming more to the opinion that ironically Joker genuinely captured something about the feel of 2019 (ironic because of how obviously it's an attempt to mimic some 1970s films as opposed to trying something new). Everyone remembers how 2020 was a time of tranquility and happiness, right?
