Like people really think Teller was out because of a money problem or because Chazelle is a clever guy  who knows exactly why Teler  was perfect for Whiplash ( let s be honest, we all had dreams about being the JK Simmons character) and why he perfectly knew there was no way his new movie was gonna be described as charming and whimsical with Miles Teller as lead instead of Ryan Gosling.

What s more likely I really wonder ...NOT.

If it had been Teller, critics and audiences alike will be scratching their heads over the very unrealistic scenario of why Emma Stone/Watson would fall in love with him instead of wanting to beat him to the ground.

I cant find much info on the music so far. Like how many songs and are they all original? I sure hope so. Most movie musicals nowadays are either adapted from Broadway or they feature a bunch of pop songs. This movie looks like a true novelty.

Most of the songs featured in La-La Land, to be my best knowledge seem to have written exclusively for the film, excluding some Christmas songs that Gosling plays on the piano, when he's working at his job at the beginning.

Do you also know how many songs/musicals the movie has? I hope it's not singing and dancing for 80% of the runtime, that will definately deflate my interest a bit.

I can't be sure but I think I read something about 6-7 songs overall. I think all of them are original and written by Pasek & Paul (lyrics) and Justin Hurwitz (music).

I believe there are few to no songs in the third act, IIRC. This doesn't seem to be the type of musical where virtually every line is sung (IE Le Miserable).

I didn't keep track, but I believe there were five to six different songs in the film. There's also moments where there's just music, and no actual singing, not to mention there are several different stretches throughout the film where there's no music at all.

So I made a list of the biggest musicals of the last 15 years adjusted for inflation.

1.Chicago              245,1 mil

2.Mamma Mia        173,8

3.Les Mis               161,7

4.Enchanted          159,6

5.Hairspray            149,6

6.Into the Woods    136,2

7.Dreamgirls          131,6

8.HSM 3                109,2

9.Annie                   90,9

10.Moulin Rouge      87,8

7 out of 10 are based on famous stage musicals and High School Musical was a sequel to a huge tv franchise. Even from the only 2 original musicals that made substantial money, Enchanted had the disney renaissance connection and Moulin Rouge was covering already iconic famous songs.

Eh, there are plenty of actresses who look way too skinny. Somehow I never thought of Emma Stone as one of them though.

I'll say she looks a bit different in these trailers than her usual self though. Could it be her weight? I don't know.
