i had also read that lionsgate were willing to increase the budget with gosling in the lead over teller. i doubt it's a decision chazelle struggled with much.

Second viewing for me and it holds up pretty nicely. I went with my sister who is one of those people that go to the movies once every 2 years and she absolutely adored it.

I think right now it's on track to hit $130m by Valentine's Day, and with probable Oscar wins, I'd say that $150m is very likely by the end of the Winter game period, and a $160m+ final total is in the cards. If in the improbable chance it utterly dominates on VD and holds better than Chicago, $200m may even be possible.

Well deserved win. Chazelle is amazing. Whiplash was better than whatever won that year, don't even remember. Such re-watchable movie.

Damn it, LLL lost about 1100 theaters this weekend. It was to be expected with such a busy weekend, I'm mostly ticked off that they waited so long to get it in 3000+ theaters when the market has been pretty dead for weeks and it could have thrived even more during the doldrums.

Let's not be greedy. The movie did about as good as it could have done. It'll end up with 150m DOM and over 350m WW.

I'm just glad LLL took the 3 big categories it was expected to (Best Actress, Director and Picture), after that it was just gravy.

Apart from LLL's 5 wins, everything else was spread out all over the place.
