It is amazing how most of the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress winners from the past 15 years have just disappeared from movies following their victory. An Oscar is supposed to elevate actors, not kill their career.

Outside Jennifer Lawrence and Sandra Bullock, I think Marion Cotillard benefited the most with her Oscar win in the last 15 years

I read  an interview with Felicity Huffman and she was asked why after her Oscar nominated performance in Transamerica she didn't do more movies and she said that she also thought that after Transamerica she would get a lot of good offers but didn't happen.

That's a huge jump for Gone Girl.

I saw the thread title and wondered how Nicole Kidman became the topic of discussion. I then realised her movie, Before I go to Sleep, opened this weekend. I just didn't initially make the connection.

I should point out I actually saw it 2 weeks ago. Shows how forgettable the movie is. Although her performance is probably the best thing about it.
