Why do remakes of male movies starring female casts get some people all up in arms? Seriously, stop making me feel embarrassed for my gender, Internet.

Some people...they just hate vagina.

Its odd, cause they love to watch it...like...every night.  That coarse and rude and confusing but...lets be real, none of this makes sense.

We're all one race anyway. If you're going to get technical, Turks are also a mixed race, made up of Mongolians, Arabs and Caucasians. Whereas Persians originally descend from Aryans (hence the name Iran) they don't even resemble modern Europeans or most of the people living in the Caucasus. And they're mixed with Russians in the north on top of that.

The sooner we accept we're all one race the better. We're 99.99% identical.

Sure but the reality is it's less about race and more about cultural values and biases I know from experience call a Turk an Arab and you're asking for a fight. Indians hate being called black because that's not who they are confuse Chinese and Japanesse will insult both people are different

I think the better option would've been to bring back half the crew of the original movies and replace the other half with all-female cast so you can have Clooney, Pitt, Bullock and Blanchett in the same movie. This is a riskier move because not a lot of men are going to watch a movie with all-female cast and movies of this genre need some male participation for them to be box office successes. Two quadrant successes like Twilight can happen but are very rare.

Did people miss the part the makers said this isn't a remake, it's a continuation?

Glad studios aren't put off having all female casts. Ghostbusters did bring in audiences, (still ~$125m despite costs) WB just keeping the budget in line as a result.

Unfortunately with the cast they've brought in I wouldn't be surprised if this movie's budget balloons over $100M as well.

How can they afford Bullock, Blanchett & Hathaway in one movie??

Only Bullock would really command a decent salary. Blanchet is an Oscar winner but far from a draw on her own. Hathaway is in same boat. She is actually on record as saying that after her Oscar win she did not get a lot of calls for work. And when she got Interstellar it was her first real big-budget film that she had participated in. So I don't think she's going to be commanding a huge salary either.

I have no idea who makes what but I would guses 10 mill for Bullock and maybe 3 for Hathaway and Blanchet. The others will probablu get between half a mill and a mill.

I fail to see why this movie is being made..or why it's being made is even an issue...or if it's even an issue anywhere that isn't this forum.

Regardless, if my lady love Helena Bonham Carter, is dolled up in any capacity..I'll be tempted to want to see this.If she's anywhere as put together in this as she was in Dark Shadows...I'll pay to watch this, both unapologetically, unironically and unsarcastically.  She was the only reason I  have ever envied Tim Burton.

More like $20m for Bullock with % points on the back end.  But yes she's by far the highest paid and the others all together won't equal her salary.

The most important distinction between the two films is the size of each project's budget. Sources say Warners will make the Ocean's reboot, which is currently titled Ocean's Ocho, for around $70 million, about $80 million less than Ghostbusters' reported budget of $150 million.

A lot of that was chalked up to the immense backlash that developed against her throughout the entire awards season leading up to her win due to her "phony" attitude ("It came true!"). Some people even thought that JLaw's fall when she won was Hathaway putting a curse on her for something like that not happening during her speech.

Also she was in Alice in Wonderland before Interstellar.

A Continuation huh??? How many Casino heists can we watch before they all start to look the same, even with a female cast, but I guess that also depends on what the heist is..

Same thing can certainly be said for superhero films: How many good-against-evil, end-of-the-world superhero films can one watch before they all start looking the same? But that has not stopped them from getting audiences interested (even when said films get awful reviews).

When a film connects with an audience, it does, period, no matter how many times the plot has been seen before.
