"It wasn't our intention" then how did  it even get far enough to cast him? 

 

Much respect to him for stepping down, but Lionsgate thought that no one would care enough to ignore the movie since it wasn't the lead. They didn't think they hired someone with a conscious. 

And since, to be fair, Hellboy's character/universe/reputation is not exactly Spider-Man level...It's definitely more of a cult-interest. 

 

They probably didn't think people would care very much...but they're clearly underestimating the current cultural climate.

 

Having said that...props to this dude for abdicating after he was hired...this has got to be a first...for these reasons, at least.

At least this studio is smart enough not to open it the weekend before Infinity War.

 

There are so many CBMs scheduled for next year this actually might be the best date they could get with some room around it.
