Really depends on what you're looking for, but usually the most important takeaway for just a casual glance is the comp.  More on that in a bit.   But even that is highly dependent on a movie being either in a similar genre or having a similar pre-sale pattern as folks will buy tickets at different times during a pre-sale window thanks to a very long list of factors.   Add in that movies will have different promotional schedules during their pre-sales (review embargoes, TV ca

Around $1.8 avg

 

No sequel - probably skewing older action movie. Fall Sept/Oct Action films

Kingsman: 11.5x (younger skewing sequel)

Jack Reacher 2: 17.3

Accountant: 18.3

Magnificent Seven 18.8

Rambo: 14.5m

 

My guess right now - in the 17-18 range  - so possible  $30m o/w.  Even with Rambos lower multi would point to $26m

 

ADAMS FAMILY

Abominable - $1.75m 
SLOP 2=  $3.2m
Toy Story 4 = $3.85m
 

Only one of these is a fall movie where w/e multis off previews will be higher so going with Abominable

 

Abominable - 31.7x

Goosebumps - 21x

House with Clock In The Walls: 31.7x

Happy Death Day - 26x

 

Hmmmm - even the lowest of these comps has it doing $36.7m o/w

The Lighthouse is a limited release. 

 

As of right now I see only 4 showings in NYC for it's Thursday previews (11 for Friday)   Two each at Lincoln Center and The Angelica.  For Thur previews it's selling quite well - about 30-40% in the first showing at LC and about 50% in the two Angelica showings.

I started looking around to track Gemini man as I’m bored cause I’m off work for like a month but through the first 7 theatres it only had 32 tickets sold for all combined so far, not really worth tracking yet. I’ll look the day before I guess and see what’s up.

Thursday Previews

Addams Family - Gemini Man - Terminator - Maleficent

 

These are numbers from last night.  I decided to add AMC 25 for a couple.  I mostly want to track smaller films at that theaters.  Almost the opposite of Porthos; if it's going to make over 50M, not interested.  LOL.  I'm still debating about adding the other five theaters to SMCM, I just need to make that leap.

I'm worried that if the film flops A24 will abandon it, and I don't know if it's doing good compared to other releases.

The pre-sales look really strong for more than a week out.  My guess is both LC and Angelic will expand it to 2 screens for o/w.   How it expands to mid sized and smaller cities after that is always a question but I expect a really good o/w PTA.

This is really solid stuff for Addams. Looks like it's consistently doubling Abominable ticket sales across the board. I'm starting to get more confident in 30M. 

 

Gemini Man is selling like shit here (like, REALLY bad). Addams Family Thursday previews don't have assigned seating for some reason so I can't track that one until Friday.

Gemini Man still hasn't sold a single ticket for Thursday's preview night at the Cinemark Sugarhouse, so they decided to add another showing. 🤔 Friday isn't much better but at least they have sold some tickets.

 

Thursday Total- 0/276

Friday Total- 3/629

 

Addam's Family previews aren't much to write about either but should surpass Rocketman (OW $25.7) by the time Thursday rolls around and if things really pick up, maybe Dark Phoenix (OW $32.8) as well. 4 screenings currently, the first one at 4:00.

 

Thursday Total- 26/352
