Did a quick LA area previews sellout count for IW

 

40 sellouts / 477 showtimes

 

Only have a couple of point in time comps, here are the other comps:

One week before release comps:

Civil War - 35 sellouts / 414 showtimes

BvS - 18 sellouts / 452 showtimes

 

8 days before release:

Rogue One: 77 sellouts / 610 showtimes

 

9 days before release:

Ultron: 25 sellouts / 565 showtimes

 

2 months before release:

Force Awakens: 178 sellouts / 591 showtimes

The Last Jedi: 107 sellouts / 560 showtimes

 

Same point before release:

Guardians 2: 11 sellouts / 228 showtimes

 

I think showtimes will hit 700-750 in the end. Will do the next count next Wednesday after the showtime escalation.

personally, I do not see Avengers: Infinity War opening that well.  I never have.

Avengers still hasn't passed any of the disney era star wars presale figures. I feel like the presales with black panther helped with the rush for infinity war tickets.(im not saying its the sole reason don't attack me), but a lot of people were unable to get tickets for desired showtimes with good seats the first weekend black panther came out because they didnt purchase in advance. This might cause people to rush to get tickets for infinity war instead of waiting the week of like with black panther to not run into that issue again. This didn't happen with Thor 3, good seats and tickets were easier to come by. There is no way I would've purchased my tickets this far in advance if it wasn't for the difficulty to get black panther tix opening night/weekend.

If at all avengers open big, will it have the legs of BP to breach 680m mark? Is it possible.

Will be interesting to see how Solo presales fair, since it'll be the first Disney Star Wars to not release at Christmas (and that was a major factor of TFA's presales, the fact that it was very backloaded over the two-weeks).

SW has been unique in that pre-sales were back loaded over the holidays while also being heavily Thur Preview front loaded over o/w.

The difference between this and BP in my area is that IW will likely be on more screens.

 

I think a lot of theaters underestimated demand for BP.

 

With hardly any movies in theatres making much money on April 27th, IW likely get a supermassive wide release.
