No, thankfully. I haven't really been following the trial because 1) I don't care enough to and 2) the headlines make it evident neither is exactly innocent or will come out looking good. Even if Depp wins the lawsuit, it's unlikely he'll be welcomed back into Hollywood, especially when his career was already on a downward trend even before all of this (the last thing he needs is yet another Pirates sequel anyway, that ship has officially sailed).

Honestly, these "both Heard and Depp are guilty" or "I hope both go away" takes are probably even worse than the lunatic defenders, because you are actually reasonable, trustworthy people spreading harmful misinformation. I won't get into details, because we're supposed to discuss it in the thread for the case, which I'm avoiding revisiting because I don't want to read hurtful comments from members I like and respect (last time I went there it was kinda nasty). But if you look into what exactly Depp is suing Heard for, it's pretty clear these takes are wrong. One of them is lying, and the other is getting their career destroyed by it. You have the right to not want to inform yourself about the case or take any sides, but when you go on the internet to say both are evil and that both deserve to pay a price for it, you're actually helping hurt someone that doesn't deserve to be in this situation. I think the best is to just not say anything.

And both have suffered severe damage to their careers form this suit. This whole idea that has to be a good guy and a bad guy in this case is silly.

Apparently the woman was escorted from the theater shortly after that. Broadway has been really boosting security these past few days in light of the Jesse Williams thing.

The theaters, that are owned by private institutions, have their own mandates for masking during a performance. You in theory also need to be vaccinated and show a card. But we were not carded this weekend.

There where some businesses that kept them but many eventally dropped them..

I personally don't go to one theater as they force masks and passes which I find security theater these days. But I don't go there and protest or cause issue.

 

Idk find mask issue is more about virtue signaling these days then about wear proper masks and such.

I get mask mandates being dropped at this stage in the game, but people that mock other people for still wearing masks can just fuck right off...you don't know that person's health situation or better yet their financial situation because since this is America they may not be able to afford to go to the doctor if they get sick.  I know two people with brutal Long Covid and they'll probably never feel comfortable being in an indoor public space without a KN-95 mask on ever again and its totally understandable after seeing what they have to live with everyday.  Masks never should've been politicized but this dumb country just can't help itself.

I usually wouldn't go to an establishment that required masking but as soon as I can, while inside the establishment, I'll take it off.

We are still going strong. I mostly lurk but post once in awhile nowadays (I am also part owner of the WOKJ boxoffice movie forums). We are still in the game! 

 

It's been a great 20 years. Posting side by side with you, predicting movie grosses from Spiderman 2 to MBFGW to Avatar.

Broadway is pretty much its own little world with its own set of rules of operating, unlike movie theaters, etc. For instance, they make sure you put away your phone before the show starts, and have been tightening up on that over the past few days*.

 

* for those not in the know, Jesse Williams is in a play right now (that he also just earned a Tony nomination for) where he has a nude scene, someone snuck a phone into the theatre and recorded said nude scene, shared it on the Internet, and now the leaker has been blasted by everyone and efforts have been made to take the video down. Let that be a lesson that what happens on a Broadway stage, stays on the Broadway stage.

She also went into the audience a few years back and took someone's phone away for texting during her performance. Honestly watching inconsiderate audience members being read for filth by her would be worth the price of a super expensive Broadway ticket alone.
