‘People are starting to get burnt out on superhero movies’

Ahh yes, here comes the superhero fatigue argument again. Lmao

 🤣🤣🤣

I'm not saying they are. Just looking at the numbers and wondering if they still have the pull that they once did to the GA. Already said my theater was packed last night. The shows looked fuller than Thor.

I'm sure IW will have a huge number. I dunno about the solo films going much higher though.

I didn't mean that. I more so meant we may see the ceiling OW/TOTAL start to gradually dip for these MCU, DCEU, etc. Of course a lot of people will see it next weekend. That's the same case for just about any tentpole released the weekend before Thanksgiving.

I’m sorry I was in a conversation with Subzero I didn’t mean to tag you.

(About your point for next weekend) We May see an incredible hold next week and then again we may not .

Yes the logic is hilarious, Wonder Women, The Guardians of the Galaxy 2, the third version of Spiderman and Second Thor Sequel do 800+ million WW...

but a subpar Comic Book movie does not do well and people say there is comic book fatigue.

People love comic book movies, just good ones.

Barring the 4 billion dollar MCU movies, all the 3 MCU movies this year had some of the highest OW, DOM and WW of all MCU movies. I am not seeing the dip

JL will need to pass Pirates  to make the WW top 10.

I'm not just talking about JL though, I'm talking about the previews numbers for the others too. Was GOTG Vol 2 a lot higher? Logan? I can't remember.

Yeah...thinking back, there weren't a ton of people in my screening of Homecoming either. Saw all of them on Thursday night.

Pretty much.

13M is.... alright? For the record, that's the Thursday number for the 1st ever Justice League movie, and it's less than Thor 3 and fucking It's numbers. The threequel to the lesser of the lead Avengers (between Thor, Stark and Cap) whose two predecessors' DOM totals amount to less than Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 DOM combined, and an R-rated 30 million budget horror movie based on a Stephen King novel from September had bigger Thursday previews than JUSTICE FUCKING LEAGUE.

Still better than those 11-12M super early estimates, but I really didn't believe those. DHD always lowballs very early Thursday estimates.

I'm not saying there is.

But looking at the preview numbers for JL, Thor, and SM: H, there doesn't seem as big a rush to see them as there once was.

13 and 14.5 isn't a huge difference. All I was saying that these numbers are a big dropoff from the first two:

BvS $27.7m

SS $20.5m

The weekend could easily make up for it.

I just don't see ceilings DOM like Spider-man, Spider-man 2, Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises, Avengers or even Ultron in cards for anything coming anytime soon.

What was GOTGv2 preview as I don’t think that film even hit 20mil.

Maybe CBM are gonna start to get less front

loaded?

Only time will tell for JL.

#JusticeLeague  grossed $18M THU from intl mkts raising total to $27.3M ahead of wknd. Matching or beating #ThorRagnarok  in many countries. China opening day FRI heading to roughly $15M today, 25% behind #BvS, but about even with latest #Thor .

Well this year we had 6 live action SH movies and barring JL they all did extremely well critically as well as BO wise. Next year we have 7 live action SH movies which is just one more. I think they will be fine.

It will not be easy to reverse the franchise trajectory.

Other than Wonder Woman the franchise is on life support.

If Justice League can barely crack 100 m OW, what's Aquaman and Flash gonna open to???

Plus it's harder and harder to maintain momentum with sequels.

Outside of the Marvel brand, most big budgeted sequels saw steep drops this year.

A 3-5 difference in preview numbers can translate to 24-40 difference in ow using 8x preview to ow multiplier.

So 13,15,17 look deceptievly close to eachother but translate to 100+, 120+, 140+ ows.
