I'm almost certain Ferdinand could have doubled its OW had it opened a week later like what was originally intended.

If it stayed in July 2017, it could’ve had a nice run being the only quality animated movie of the summer.

Well someone asked some fans who went to see it on opening night and they liked it.

Shock horror.

I loved TLJ myself. But even though I'm a day-one fan, I don't think that the current lot of online Star Wars fanatics would count me among their number.

It will probably get the JGS treatment this week...rapid fallout of theaters to preserve an older holdover or to give a new movie an extra screen (or both)...

To be fair, TDA isn't in enough theaters to lose a lot; the majority should be keeping it over Christmas.

i think those that sold SW over at FOX are long gone. I mean how freakin stupid can a movie company be to sell such a franchise to a rival:wintf::gold::hahaha::hahaha:

Fox's mistake was not keeping the rights to the franchise when they agreed to make the first Star Wars film. That was their big mistake. Lucasfilm made the sequels and prequels without them, and just used Fox as the distributor. Then, Disney just had to buy Lucasfilm to get the rights to the Star Wars franchise.

Although it really doesn't matter, since Disney is buying Fox anyway.

That weekly drop for TDA is horrific but the film played like CBM sequel last weekend with Friday being its best day and Saturday seeing a 17% drop. This week's Saturday drop looks to be in the neighborhood of 50%. That's still pretty bad for a film marketed as an awards contender. It's not going to come anywhere close to Lady Bird or even Three Billboards.

holy shit SW is a monster. No movie can ever compete against this. I think Avatar will disappoint unless Cameron really comes up with something really new for it. Like almost Virtual reality 3D

I don't think it will be as big as the first domestically but I think Avatar 2 will clear $2 billion worldwide and even if it doesn't reach the heights of the first there is no way that can be construed as a disappointment.
