New Year's Day Weekend Thread: Late Friday estimates (DHD) - TLJ 19.5M, Jumanji 17.5M, PP3 6.7M, TGS 5.3M

No wonder Jumanji is absolutely killing it this Holiday season.

To GA, after The Last Jedi, Jumanji probably felt like a monumental piece of filmmaking :

Damn !

A movie that dares to bring their characters from Point A to Point B.

Character Arcs !

A Story that moves Forward !

Lovable Characters you want to root for !

Sony was right to take all those bold filmmaking risks with Jumanji.

From Visionary Director Jake Kasdan, son of you know who.

The Nostalgia Bump Continues.   "Jumanji" worked in bringing in old fans of the franchise while introducing new fans to it.  It also did a great job as counter family programming against TLJ.   Speaking of Jedi's, Congrats to TLJ for entering the Top 10 Domestic of all Time in about two weeks time.   Star Wars now has 5 Films (Episode I, IV, VII, VIII, Rogue One) in the Top 12 Grossing Films of All Time Domestically proving it to be the most Dominating Franchise in the United States.  I think it's playing out just like every 2nd Chapter of a Star Wars Trilogy box office wise (Empire and Clones both dropped).

With that said, it has shown to be slightly front-loaded in comparison to Awakens.   Plus I guess the competition did take a toll with Jumanji working as a remake.  "Empire" Adjust to 704 Million.   660 gets it a 3x Multiplier, so that's the question now.  Can it sell as much tickets as "Empire".   "Return" adjust to 724.   "Avatar" seems to be out of the question as of now (760).   As for Jumaji, The original Adjust to 200 Million so the remake should sell as much tickets after this weekend.   Happy New Year to all my Box Office Addicts out there, lol.

TLJ started with 220m ow

It will beat Avatar!

It will make 700m, only dense posters say otherwise, just check the calender!

Titanic is still done!

Well atleast it beat Avengers

It will make more than 600m!

Hmmm can we go below 600m? BOT posters confidence seems to be a mere front for wobbly sws pride. (<0.5A (ww))

Jumanji 300m inbound.
