HAN SOLO MEMORIAL (day weekend) THREAD | Solo Flops Domestically with 83M/101M weekend. Spectacularly Bombs Overseas with 65M weekend.

Recommended Posts

Force Awakens was such a nostalgia trip that it managed to move the butts of people that hadn't been to the movies in years or even decades.

Domestic, Look at the gap between the biggest movies of the 2010's : Avengers 1 & 3, Black Panther, Jurassic World and Force Awakens, more than 200m ...

Those movies weren't able to get much of this probably older audience, 50+ I would say ...

I maybe late to the party but

" profit is doubtful on Solo especially when factoring in an estimated production cost well north of $300M before P&A "

Solo spent $300m BEFORE Promotion & Advertising? If that true then how is this going to make money... I thought EmpireCity said it was going to make a profit.

If thats true its actually going to make a huge loss.

This DP2 drop is horrendous. Yesterday I was asking @Nova to not freak out about everything but you have my blessing if the Friday number is indeed 11.6M. This drop is even worse than Godzilla's in 2014 and that movie was crucified by almost everyone here for dropping so badly on a holiday weekend. Now I understand that this movie is a massive success for Fox and it's OS gross is even more impressive but it's drop on 2nd Friday is godawful.

Already a 3.6x multiplier and counting. Just amazing for a horror film.

Exactly and even more so for one that opened as high as $50m!

I fucking HATE this. Me and @Nova are getting perfectly vindicated when it comes to Deadpool both in the FIRST and in the SECOND film: The first everyone would laugh at us that it'd open over $100m, let alone over $120m like I was predicting.

Then now when we said that this wasn't showing good legs at all, we got attacked left and right. "Don't be a pessimist" and "you're overreacting iJack you don't know what you are talking about". Sure thing, experts.

It is breaking out. Avengers: Infinity War effect in full swing. It's more likely that it'll reach $300m dom than Deadpool 2. Around $800m WW.

I have it over DP2 for sure. Somewhere around $340-365m, with the very low off chance of hitting $400m if everything goes in its favour quality wise and Skyscraper/EQ2/MI6/C.Robin all underperform/disappoint.
