Pretty sure we've gone over that the problem is the movies they've been putting here, not Memorial Day weekend itself.

It could definitely be a combination.

What we do know is that Memorial Day has yet to prove itself as a solid weekend to result in stellar box-office success.

It’d be foolish for Disney to completely discount the clear pattern of Disney Memorial Day flops over this weekend specifically.

It’s very possible that Solo could have made more money had it been released in December.

This Memorial Day pattern is something that needs to be addressed by Disney (or any other studio).

Can someone tell me what the equivalent ratings are for:

10/10 = A+ correct? Or is there anything higher than an A+?

e.g. 9.0-9.5 being an A?

??? = A-

and so on

I feel a bit lost about that

Thats, like completely normal, even for TFA it would be true.

no c'mon. 200 million views doesn't mean 200 million people watched it.

in china yes, AQP will likely make more money than solo

AQP ow has a better shot at beating SOLO total in China, than AQP total coming under SOLO total.

Yeah, Deadpool 2 is not gonna reach 300M.

Well, we said Homecoming was going to die too after it had two very shitty holds in week 2 and 3.  DP2 could recover and get to 300.  It's not over yet.

If we really need to go forward then everytime a new movie is released that has a gay character there should be no buzz about it having a gay character positive or negative.

If there weren't so much cheering everytime a "diverse casting" was anounced there wouldn't have been the opposite, backlash.

The goal is to treat everyone equally so it is not a gay character or a straight character or a black character. It's just another character. Period.

This is a silly take because the fact is that it is a big deal if there's a gay protagonist (or any other LGBT protagonist). Love Simon, released just this past March, was the first studio film to have a gay main character. It would be a huge deal if an event film sure to be a success (although maybe not as much now) would have a gay character. In the midst of a constant heteronormativity, one film doing something different is going to make waves.
