Avengers: Endgame Thursday Thread: DHD 21.7M

Recommended Posts

So actually dropping better than Shazam and La Llorona, whereas other Avengers 1st Thursday had a notably worse drop than other movies that day.

That puts a bit of a different spin on things and suggests that the 3 different movies with previews had  a larger impact than I expected.

Pass 100M in Local Currency AustraliaAUD 44.97M

Pass 100M GBP in UK-£45.7M

Pass $500M in China(First Hollywood movie)- $0

Another fantastic day at the BO for EG. It's WW speed record are just unmatched. With $21.4M Thursday ($473.7M), It's looking at $160M+ 2nd WK which would set another record beating $149M+ second WK by SW7. It's up to top 15 all time domestic grosser with in a wk of it's release date. Shattering the old record by $83M which was held by SW7 at $390.8M. It now has all of the records and easily get day 8,9 and 10 as well which would the upcoming wk!

As for OS, we have our first countdown that was hit in China. It's looking at $625-650M lifetime gross, which would be roughly $250M more than IW. At 625M+ in China, it would be the largest Hollywood movie ever and 3rd overall behind Wolf Warrior 2 and Wandering Earth. OS total is up $1.312B, 4th largest ever and will become third today and pass Titanic by Sunday for the 2nd spot!!!

WW is up to $1.786B, 5th highest grosser ever surpassing lifetime gross of Jurassic World. It'll surpass IW and SW7 on Saturday and has a good shot depending on hold to surpass Titanic WW gross of $2,187+B by Sunday. In 12 days, $2B+ WW gross is beyond comprehension!!!!:ohmygod:

I’m truly impressed by how endgame is shaping out. We have never seen anything like this before.

Did anyone seriously expect it to be the number 2 grossing movie of all time by the second weekend before it released?

All bets are off with future MCU movies as well.  Yeah this is a culmination of films and characters, but they’ve also mainstreamed nerd and comic culture in a way that hasn’t been done before, creating a large mainstream audience.  GOTG 3 could have insane numbers that defy expectations set by the first two movies.

I definitely expect the next few movies will have bumps, and certain characters will benefit.

That particular one depends on... err... who's in charge, shall we say?

The last facial expression completely sold that scene. One of my favorite comedic scenes of the MCU.

That seems to be the case. The previews of the 3 openers combined is less than $2 million, so I'm guessing it's simply a case of losing showtimes.

Long Shot might go down as the best movie of the summer. I know end game is everyone's favorite right now but oh my God is it ever good. It's funny as anything and it's heartwarming and it's sad and it's an old school romantic comedy.

It's an effin' juggernaut. And I am more than happy that I can witness such BO craze for the fourth time now. UN-effin-believable.

It was great. It doesn’t touch Endgame for me, but it was well acted, well made and a very funny movie.

10/10 would Recommend.

Beating Avatar WW is still in play but unless we get a 170+ weekend I can't see it beating TFA DOM.

Doesn't work that way. Easily in play with 160 but drops for weekend #3/#4 are much more significant as well as late legs.

175 doesn't lock up 937+ either.
