So does that mean this will actually release in China?

Nope!  Investment doesn't dictate release, usually!  No one can predict what the CCP will allow in or not, these days...

Looks like it has a Hong Kong release, though!  And Hong Kong is basically China, these days (unfortunately)...so that probably indicates a release in some form for the Mainland.

CCP is definently cracking down on the number of Foreign films allowed in. Seems to be on general principal .

I would not be surprised, the way things are going, that you see Russia begin to ban films that PUtin feels might not be "good" for the Russian people to see.

Authoratarin goverments suck. They always end up attackng individual liberties.

Yeah...that's kind of why they suck!  And I will continue to call out people here for "praying" something gets a China release.  No apologies.

Again, you have this completely backwards.  Theaters aren't refusing to play the movie, Lionsgate is withholding it from them.

You're right. I was misled by rumors that movie theaters were refusing to play the movie due to the distributor's demands for a higher share of ticket sales.

3 glowing reviews on RT so far...

"Moonfall" isn't the worst film Emmerich has made, but it's close."

"Moonfall is mind-numbingly dumb by even Roland Emmerichs standards."

"How do you make an apocalypse film so idiotic that the movie is its own kind of disaster?"

The critic gave a better line, "This sloppy sci-fi flick has more holes in its plot than craters on the moon."
