Aladdin seems to be sucking the wind out of several movies this summer. This is the ultimate box office irony. It's all the predictions in reverse. Aladdin was going to be crushed by all other movies and was the one to take the hit. Now, it's killing it and will end up with the biggest multiplier of any movie until at least Lion King (and maybe even that one too).

@GodzillaYou're missing the point of what the word "disappointing" means. A movie with SUCH high reviews from critics and audiences, a beloved franchise-probably the most beloved Pixar/animated franchise of all time, and $140-$160 million predictions/projections from ALL publications as well as Disney itself.

TS4 delivered a near knock-out punch to TSLOP2. Last Friday, it increased 55.9%. This Friday, it increased only 4.4%. It is going to finish about 60% down from the original TSLOP. Will TSLOP3 head directly to Netflix?

toy story 3 had even better reviews from critics and audiences and ONLY opened to a PATHETIC 110m

the sequel literally no one wanted opening to 123m weekend is even worse. this franchise is dead. What an utter disappointment.

Doubt there will be a Flop 3. They have better things to spend their resources on. Why would they bother?

Pretty sure they just won't make one at all.

I should think so. I heard in the tracking thread that there were Phoenix/TS4 doubles. If Aladdin only get a small minority of the doubles could be as low as perhaps 3.5. If it gets most of them even 4 wouldn’t be that surprising.

Disappointment is not equal to bomb/flop

yes but it's not disappointing in the same way that say Avengers opening to 120m would be disappointing. A few weeks ago no one was saying it would do 160+.

the average prediction in the summer game was 113m.

one person predicted 185, all the others were between 80-130m.

Boxoffice had long range tracking at 105-130 -  https://www.boxofficepro.com/long-range-tracking-toy-story-4-childs-play/

It is doing as it should reasonably be expected. the fact things got blown out of the water in the last few weeks doesn't really matter.

It’s also the 4th movie in franchise and no one asked for it...
