That's pretty much the one thing it won't be.

Beautiful-looking? Amazing score? Great effects, costumes, acting? Most likely yes. Epic adventure? Nah.

Is gonna be arty farty, no? slow with long shots of Timothee face like brad pitt in ad astra? ha!  however, unlike ad astra, DUNE  is a rich story. it would be a shame to not strike the right balance between epic and art

It's still the only big movie opening next December...

Don't be so sensitive/insecure. Of course you're still a movie buff. Better?

I didn't say Flanagan was a crappy director. He made a tv show and a tv movie in Gerald's Game. He's not a bad director, but is he great? We know nobody can hold a candle to Kubrick, but the least they could've done is tried to lure an Ari Aster type, somebody with vision.

Flanagan is competent. He's not the guy you want following up a classic.

I'm not the biggest fan of Netflix but do people still look at them as a lesser form of movies? I guess Cuaron and Scorsese are TV directors now.

also Gerald's Game was the best King adaptation of 2017

Yep, Also, Joker showed that you can have a hit to rival SFX extravaganza without any of it. So if Dune clicks, it won't have to become what it isn't (adventure). It seems to me, assuming it won't be 3 hours long, that they run into the desert faster than the book does which is a good thing. Shortening the politics and boring Duke and getting to the point (Stil and the Fremen) is the way to go. The book opens with a bang (BG test) but then starts to lag a bit til the coup that sends characters into the desert. from there on, it's very thrilling though second part (time jump) is all over the place. But that's for second movie to solve.

Uncharted? Lol. Is that ever coming out?

But yeah, Dec 2020 is shit, though there's still some "Untitled Event Movies" in late November, n'est pas? Loads of room for things to move.

Uncharted is either gonna bomb in December or bomb wherever Sony moves it to
