I'm speechless, it not only broke the record, it destroyed it. That's our moment @Krissykins, after a terrible 2014 and 2015, the full renaissance of the genre is complete.

MOD PLEA:

Many of us have read the book.

Probably even more have seen the 1990 TV event.

But that doesn't mean that you can or should discuss spoilers from these two mediums.  Think of this movie like you would any other film.  If Infinity Wars had been made into a novel first, and you discussed the details of that novel, the MARVEL LOONIES  would hang you in effigy.  Please have the same respect for this or any other film that is based on an incredibly popular book or TV show/series/movie.

Thanks everyone.

Just going to say there is a six issue Infinity War comic book series...

but yeah dont spoil the movie for those unfamiliar with the book or mini-series folks!

If you would put a Marvel Blockbuster in September, it would certainly not open to like 50M. If theres high interest in a movie, it can certainly open any day of the year.

Im all in for IT to gross 200M+

$100m would be very unlikely since it's opening in September. I think $50-60m will be the highest it'll go which will more than enough to break the September record.

American Sniper broke the January record by $48m.

Deadpool broke the February record by $47m.

And of course, Star Wars broke the December record by $164m.

Not saying we should expect a $100m+ opening for IT, but I think box office in recent years has proven that audiences will go see a movie at any time of the year if they really want to.

Anyone else think Stranger Things might have had a hand in the success this trailer?

Maybe but the kid from Stranger Things is barely in the trailer.
