It looks both very different from the first film, and also that you do not need to have seen it to watch this one.

I mean that it is not a sequel to the story of the first film, which is why it's baffling to call it the "Sicario Saga" in the trailer. It's more of a spin-off centred on del Toro's character.

 

Sheridan is on record as saying it's not a sequel to Sicario as Sicario doesn't need a sequel, it's just a different story featuring that character. Plus the clear shift from thriller to action film makes it more like why he titled it Soldado this time, which it has been referred to at all times until this trailer today. But marketing gonna marketing. 

Apparently only in the US that it's being retitled Sicario 2 anyway.

I watched this early this morning with my eyes half-awake and it woke me up without any caffeine.

 

It's nice to see  w i d e s c r e e n  being utilized well.

Too bad you guys decided to write this off. It looks very promising and very good. Much more excited for this movie than most sequels/CBMs next year.
