People may say Nolan isn't a good choice for bond probably because they want to be all hipster but Nolan directing a bond film would be fucking brilliant. Skyfall had Nolans style stamp all over it and it was loved. Basically Nolan is too good for bond and that's why it would never happen

Nolan loves Bond and has said he spent his whole career ripping off the Bond franchise.

I wouldn't say he's too good for it, but the family that produces Bond would never give him the control he likes to have. In any event, their production formula seems to work very well regardless of director.

Let's see the total before we go that far....

The total weekend gross is only a small part of why I say that.  Other than the top 3 slots, the holdovers are atrocious and we've now had two consecutive weeks of some of the all time worst PTA for wide releases.  Except with this week those included vehicles of major stars.  I still think it's one of the worst weekends in a very, very long time.

Bummer for Room, though the story probably isn't very GA friendly

It's pretty decent actually. It's closely following the run of Whiplash, both in theater counts and in grosses. That's the potential Best Picture nominee this should be tracked next to.

Buzz right now has a giant black hole called Star Wars. It's muted for everything.

You're legit telling me you think Star Wars will affect SPECTRE and Mockingjay?

Cause that's pretty ridiculous

No. I'm just saying that online, Star Wars is sucking up all the hype talk.

I'd still call Room a disappointment so far. Whiplash finished with $13 mil which isn't exactly a high bar. Given Room won People's Choice in Toronto and the hype over the lead performance I was really looking forward to a solid run.

Can someone explain to me the 64% drop for STEVE JOBS?

Sure. It's not a mainstream GA movie. Most of the people who were going to see it probably already saw it.
