Baumer's 50 most important films of all time (JFK 3, Earthlings 2.....FREE YOUR MIND! THE MATRIX NUMBER 1)

Recommended Posts

I originally had this as the 50 best films of the last decade.  I'm still going to that, but some other time.  This one intrigues me a bit more.

This is going to be my take on the 50 most important films ever made.  This list will be personal in some instances (there are two films in the top ten that you might not see coming).  You also might start to groan at this and have preconceived notions that this will be all Twilight and Transformers and 80's films and you might be right.  Or you could be completely way off base.

Influential and important are sometimes one in the same.  There's no doubt the lines will be blurred here at times with those two words.  But when the chips are down, these 50 films are certainly films that affected me in some way and there will definitely be some historical perspective to these as well.

I loved the way @The Panda did his countdown and I am just going to copy it.  It won't be nearly as good or as concise or even as detailed, but I will do my best to emulate what he started.

Hope you enjoy and although you might disagree with some of the films on here, you also might be surprised at some of the list.

I will wait till Chas and Panda finish their most excellent countdowns and then I will start my bestus films of the last decade.  Stay tuned.

I'll be finished with 12 hours :)

Meanwhile use that time to think of your favourite movie songs ;)

Oh come on. It is the most influential franchise of the 21st century by far. Plus the highest grossing franchise in history.

I love Harry Potter to death but I'm not sure it would make my list of top 50 influential films. It might be the most influential franchise of the 21st century (debatable) but none of the films were influential on their own.

I know you guys probably think I only talk about Avatar for the sake of talking about Avatar.

However this honestly seems like a thread for it, with the revolutionary 3D and CGI.
