I wonder how much it’ll do with the Thursday showings left for tonight and if it will translate to a $50M 3-day/$60M 4-day opening weekend.

Well, “much” is fuzzy, but basically yes. I think the amount of people who’re aware that movies functionally open on Thursday and go then if they’re interested but not even necessarily all that hyped has grown, even for Pixar originals.    
 

I think a Pixar original doing IO’s OW numbers in summer would probably have 7M+ previews, but not one releasing on a schoolnight Thurs like Frozen was.

tbh, Sonic made me realize James Marsden's kind of sexy. I'm also hyped for The Photograph bc Lakeith and Issa are both drop-dead gorgeous.

I'm definitely gonna see Onward but it's easily the least excited I've been for a Pixar movie since Cars 3. I dunno, everything about it screams "minor Pixar" to me.

Onward will be an interesting film to track, if only because it doesn't have the same benefits of other family properties, at least this far out. Aside from the Pixar brand, this is completely original, so it's very hard to pin down what the movie will do this far out. Also not helping are the preview screenings happening on the 29th.

 

But as for today...it's okay. There's a decent amount of theaters with no tickets sold, but again, I think it's excusable for now. We'll see how the next couple weeks unfold.

Looking at MTC1 its missing 4m. But it has overperformed at MTC2. Still will stick to 3.75m previews. 

 

Photograph sold just over 24700 tickets between the 2 MTC. I would say 0.7m considering it has overindexed bigtime at MTC1(2x MTC2). 

 

Sonic OD PS

MTC1 - overall 3594 shows 97686/597583 1279483.34 1043170.48

Again its overperforming big time at MTC2. MTC1 to overall ratio will be lower for OD and so I am expecting PS for friday to be 7m by the time shows start tomorrow.

She can be a tough critic (absolutely refused to see Aladdin with me even when I promised all the candy in the theatre and all she really cares about is basketball.) They are both popular and charming, if they push the advertising on their sm (Especially together) I think the buzz will pick up significantly 

Agree. The biggest buzz points right now will be the actors, who just started physical promotion yesterday. Saw them on Kimmel last night. Personally I've never considered Pixar stuff as must-see viewing? Idk I feel meh about all their trailers and never see them in cinemas despite good reviews,  and only saw Inside Out because it was on TV. Credit to it though, it did make me cry, and I'm hearing the same for Onward. But... between this and Soul, Soul may do better just because that one's premise is a bit more unusual.

Sales have picked up, but the number of shows is really poor.  BOP had 35% more reserved seat shows than Sonic has total shows.

it can still beat it, at the same time our range here was 3-4 mill , with the average being around 3,5 mill , so pretty close , we will see when the actuals come ,
