Encanto is selling extremely well around me. $40M+ for the 5-day should happen at this point at least.

While I agree that's likely, I would expect Florida, due to its demos and Disney presence, to overindex for this movie - I'd be curious comparing it to Philly and Salt Lake (as 2 examples) to get a total feel for how it's doing:)...

After a really good Saturday for Gucci, it's right back where it was before that now.  That's how it goes comping Tues previews to Thurs previews.  I'm thinking around 2m for Encanto and Gucci previews (Gucci may be higher depending on where the sneaks are included).  Resident Evil has been declining consistently against the Candyman comp so I'd hope for 1m at this point.

The most surprising thing today is that Sing dominated sales yesterday.  It makes me wonder if sales for next weekend shows did better than Tuesday in general.  If I have time today or tomorrow I may take a look at the openers Wednesday and Thursday sales.  Sing 2 early access has surpassed Space Jam Friday T-5 sales 485 to 458 at this point, but not too much room for growth with only 13 showings.

Would anyone be surprised if Resident Evil completely tanked? It's sold pretty much nothing over its first few days near me. Barely hitting $10M for the 5-day seems plausible,

It seems like it’s being dumped. Sony just opened Ghostbusters and it looks like RE is only getting 2600 locations.

Can you check how big are Encanto and Gucci releases for tomorrow. Since its tuesday, number of shows could be smaller as most of the BO is coined during the long weekend.

Can't say I'm surprised when it looks so...cheap. It appears it was made during the worst months of the pandemic so I'm gonna assume COVID protocols ended up eating into too much of the budget.

They should have pushed this to January or February. Sony decided to just dump it. Releasing a movie 6 days after your own movie...yeah. It had a terrible marketing campaign too. At least WB marketed Mortal Kombat well enough for a 20+ million OW. This reminds me of Paramount dumping Snake Eyes with only 2 months of marketing.

I mean, this is a no brainer. No better place to see an actual Disney movie (meaning the ones that sport the magic castle logo and the name, not properties such as Marvel or Lucasfilm) than on Disney property.

Sure, I just ran another report to update my numbers from last Friday

Tuesday 11/23 previews

House of Gucci - 3,663 (2,354 TC) (98 PLF)

Encanto - 7,034 (2,632 TC) (1,141 PLF)

Resident Evil - 5,728 (2,013 TC) (25 PLF)

For the Love of Money - 265 (182 TC)

For the comps I'm using:

House of Gucci comps

Stillwater - 3,012 (2,031 TC)

Respect - 4,396 (2,506 TC)

Evan Hansen - 5,131 (2,577 TC)

Encanto comps

Boss Baby 2 - 7,359 (2,604 TC)

Paw Patrol - No previews

Resident Evil comp

Candyman - 6,279 (2,680 TC)

These counts were taken Friday morning for final preview show counts though, so there's still room for growth today and tomorrow.

I saw that several members already track Encanto, therefore my focus is on the two smaller releases of the week (at least at the moment).

House of Gucci, counted today at 11am EST for tomorrow:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 66 (2 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
41 (1 showtime)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 8 (1 showtime)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 11 (1 showtime)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 11 (2 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
211 (3 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 219 (4 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 567.
Comps: Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (0.8M on Tuesday) had on Monday for Tuesday 125 sold tickets in 6 theaters (would be 526 sold tickets for HoG in the same 6 theaters).

House of Gucci, counted today at 11am EST for Wednesday:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 54 ( 4showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
51 (3 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
7 (2 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 12 (3 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 13 (4 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
151 (7 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 126 (7 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 414.
Comps:
Respect (8.8M OW) had on Wednesday for Friday (= also two days before) 129 sold tickets in 7 theaters,

Stillwater (5.2M OW) had on Wednesday for Friday 41 sold tickets in 6 theaters
and Last Night in Soho (4.2M OW, unfortunately I have no numbers for Wednesday) had on Tuesday for Friday 157 sold tickets and 283 on Thursday for Friday, so it had ca. 200 sold tickets on Wednesday.
I would say that are very solid numbers for House of Gucci.

Resident Evil, counted today at 11am EST for tomorrow:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 85 (4 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
17 (3 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
16 (2 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): no showtimes
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 10 (3 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
55 (3 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 79 (4 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 6 theaters: 262.

Comps (both counted on Wednesday for Thursday): Halloween Kills (49.4M OW) had 1.006 sold tickets

and The Forever Purge (12.6M OW) had 168 sold tickets.

Resident Evil, counted today at 11am EST for Wednesday:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 68 (4 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
11 (3 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
7 (2 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): no showtimes
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 3 (4 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
31 (4 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 33 (5 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 6 theaters: 153.

Comps (all counted on Wednesday for Friday): Halloween Kills had 1.254 sold tickets,

Malignant (5.4M OW) had 167 sold tickets,

Crawl (12.0M OW) had 170 sold tickets

and Don't Breathe 2 (10.6M OW) had 197 sold tickets.
The presales for Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City are not even that bad in my theaters but I wasn't really convinced by the trailer and also before I read the last comments here I had the feeling that House of Gucci seems to have far more buzz and marketing.
