Transformers 5 could make less than Split.

The end of an "error".

TF could end up in 120s too.

55-60 5-day and 2.1-2.2x the 5-day would give 121-132.

TF2 jumped 26% on Fri...why would this jump 81%?

I think even if does better, then it should do +35% from Thu.

I'm assuming the benefit of the doubt that audiences, especially families, don't really know this opened yesterday. I think my numbers are the best case scenario though. Could just as easily see a sub-40m 3-day.

Yes, just like they didn't know the second Transformers movie opened on a Wednesday.

I think a 50% increase is probably the ticket for Friday. TF3 had a similar late release date change, its first Friday was a Canadian holiday, and it only went up 53%.

$40M for the weekend will come down to how much it falls today.

All of which is amazing when you consider the second made over $100M over its proper weekend with the same release pattern eight years ago.

All Transformers movies have done 100M over their release patterns. This one will fall short by 35M+. It is like if everyone just said "yup I am done" at the same time.

It really didn't help that this literally looked like more of the same. The third had the promise of a unique 3D experience (back when it was a draw) and the fourth at least brought in an A-lister to shake things up a bit. What the hell did this have going for it?

Prime's heel turn. That's pretty much it.

It also had an insane final setpiece that was marketed to death and the marketing was incredible. The final trailer is still one of my favorite trailers of all time.

TF4's biggest novelty really was having an A-Lister with strong adult appeal. He was also hot from a streak of hits (Lone Survivor, 2 Guns, Pain & Gain, Ted, Contraband). His hair didn't looked ridiculous either.

It's the same old, same old with Bay and giant robots. It'll be Paramount's biggest hit this year but nothing to write home about. At least they have a second Marky Mark film in Daddy's Home 2 plus mother! and Downsizing.

Daddy's Home 2 is going to disappoint like most surprise comedy hit sequels.  I don't see the appeal.

I think Daddy's Home 2 should be fine, it will do less than the first but that's a given since it's opening in November and not Christmas.
