Who would have thought a movie would beat Awaken to the billion without the China market.....

With China it would have hit that number on Tuesday itself which is just 7 days!

Avengers is the first film series trilogy to make 1 billion world wide with every entry. The new Star Wars trilogy will probably, and Avatar will, but Avengers is the first.

That seems like a function of time more than anything else. Potter and LOTR would have done it if they had the expanded overseas markets we've seen in the 6 years of the Avengers trilogy.

pleaseeeeeeee be joking

Raising estimate further.  Know why?  I like Marvel and Disney.  Actually I'm lowering my estimate.  I don't like marvel.  Actually it was a good movie.  I'm raising estimates even further than the first time I said it.

Tbh, TFA broke was also had a record-breaking speed to 1b WW without china

TFA with China would have reached 1 billion in 10-11 days instead of 12. Infinity War would have reached 1 billion with China  in 7 days instead of 10 days. So still a huge difference

Completely off topic...

... I wonder if at Warner they have thought of re-making Beetlejuice? Such a classic.

...speaking of which, Fox owns the rights for The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which adjusts today at 504M dom!!! Will Disney re-make it when buy Fox's movie stock?

You can say that about every record.

The Russos also join the club of directors with two billion dollar movies. With Avengers 4, they’ll have the record at 3, no?

Yeah, I think so. Until now and A4, the only movies with a credible billion chance are Incredibles (Brad Bird, no billion club entries yet), Jurassic World (JA Bayona, no entries yet) and Fantastic Beasts (David Yates, would be his 2nd entry after Deathly Hallows Part 2). Very unlikely dark horse chances for Deadpool 2 (David Leitch, no entries yet), Solo (Ron Howard, no entries yet), Mary Poppins Returns (Rob Marshall, would be his 2nd after Pirates 4) and Captain Marvel (Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, no entries yet).

And next to the Russos, the only other directors with 2 entries so far are Joss Whedon (Avengers & Age Of Ultron), Michael Bay (Dark Of The Moon & Age Of Extinction), Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight & Dark Knight Rises), Peter Jackson (Return Of The King & Unexpected Journey), Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda (the duo behind Minions & Despicable Me 3), and of course James Cameron (Avatar & Titanic). And I'm pretty sure none of those directors releases a film before Avengers 4, so the Russos are gonna get the record, indeed :P

But Star Wars has 4 $1B movies (Ep1, Ep7, Ep8 and RO), and also 3 consecutive releases over $1B (7, RO, 8 ... true RO is not in the same sequel timeline, but it's story-related-prequel-like).
