That sort of was the feeling I got from my screening as well. No way it was the same insane vibe I got from the first, and I blame Fox for not playing to this film strenghts. If this was an August release a good one month after Ant-Man and the Wasp it'd break out. Hard.

DP2 sold a shit-ton of tickets today.  Even more than Black Panther did during the day of Opening Night.  HOWEVER it was well behind BP in percentage of seats sold (and still is as BP ended up at 70.59% of all seats sold), so it had much more room to grow.  Plus that whole bit in being in more theaters locally.

 

Also, this doesn't take into account the lack of 3D tickets, so I think a chunk has to be taken off.

Still... .61782 x 39 = 24m. Which is in the same ballpark as the 1x of BP (25m).  Knock off a few million for lack of 3D and more local showings and a 20m preview night wouldn't surprise me one little bit.

I'd be over the moon with $150m for Deadpool 2. With no 3d and rated R? Holy shit. I truly hope that I'm wrong about my theory that the GA needed this film to come out some time after Infinity War.

hopefully it means people came to their senses and decided to not waste their time & money, thus making deadpool the first superhero to make 0 dollars previews.

Well I will be damned. That was better than I was expecting. Plenty of laughs, some action and then more laughs with great uses of music along the way. Domino was wonderful. Not sure I can give it my second 10/10 of the year; but it definitely is duking it out with Black Panther for my second favorite film of 2018.
