Will be quite impossible to block a biopic like they could not bloc this documentary to play, but yes one that use it's music and make money would be under complete control.

Without the music no one's gonna see the movie so at that point they wouldn't even bother at all.

I'm just waiting for someone to come on here asking "what is The Dark Knight" and @MrPink would lead all of BOT in stoning them.

Is it a spin-off of one of those King Arthur movies?

Actually legal threats and the cost of litigation will be enough to stop an independently financed movie from being produced, unless someone rich and powerful is willing to back up the production.

ASIB has been re-released with an extra 12 minutes of footage as an "encore" addition, they're calling it: there's a couple of songs that weren't originally shown at all, plus extensions of some performances/scenes. It's only supposed to be playing for a week.

Saw it last night and feel like it was what would have been released initially if studios weren't so scared of "long" runtimes now.

There must be someone sit on the WB's top management or board of director are insanely love ASIB. Look at the theater they keep added for the past 2 months! I never seen such a high commitment to 4, 5 months old movie! even by Oscar player standard!

Well HBO just did Leaving Neverland, maybe you need something that powerful, but I am not sure, depending of the storyline how legal it is, is quite well establish.

HBO is the backer. It is owned by Warner Bros.

Well yes that what I meant by HBO just did Leaving Neverland, good luck for an estate to try to block an biopic that is not using the music or outside very well establish public knowledge facts.

Weirdly strong. Not gonna complain if these end up close, but I would bet most get downgraded from here a tad.

I was thinking of the Catholic Church sexual abuses as comparison. It took years before the news broke. The powerful did the cover-up well and had the means to kill a story.

Documentaries or reportage are easier. Dramatized films will be met with more resistance in distribution from the biggies. Also they are costlier, much harder to get made and distributed.
