With a 7pm start instead of 6pm for CM BP did 25.2M for a $202.005M OW, Civil War did $25M (also 7PM) for a 179M start.

A $24M would be giant, because it could easily be less frontloaded than Civil War.

CM had the same start time as BP (7pm).  They also both had very limited "fan events" at 6pm, which might be what you were thinking of when it comes to CM.

I believe Deadline’s preview estimate contained the (Mis)information about 6 vs 7 start times.

Yeah looking at my theater time, it started at 19:00 here (not sure why I had 6PM in mind probably read it in the deadline text like stated above).

Everything Thursday were some big fan events not so long ago, they are really stretching it.

Good

I think the row in front of me lost their shit during the DP trailer too. And that's not mentioning the kid at my Lego 2 screening who told his mom over and over "We MUST see that movie!"

Lion King was something else tho. Rarely do I see such a loud crowd go so quiet when a trailer pops up.

Ah, Deadline.  Even when they do something good (preview number looks about right), they still Deadline all over themselves.

====

FTR, there were EXACTLY five "Opening Night Fan Events" showings in Sacramento.  Out of seventeen theaters screening CM.  And over 200 showings tonight.

So, yeah.  Misinformation right there. 👍

(Also for the record, there were three ONFEs for BP last year)

TLK is going to be the nostalgia king for all of us 80's/90's kids. I expect it to drop truly massive numbers in July.

I'm betting on around 22-24M.

I wonder if Thursday/Friday might be a little inflated because of Women's day? I guess we'll see how word of mouth plays over the weekend. Seems pretty positive. This thing could make about 180M and take the title from Beauty.

If CM follows BP’s Thu:OW ratio it hits AUD12m in Australia plus AUD1.5m previews for a cume of AUD13.5m by Sunday night.

AUD:USD x 10 gives USD135m

AUD:USD x 11 gives USD148.5m

AUD:USD x    10-11

that's usually pretty impressive near.

Beside BP or other very dom or very AUS impacting movies. Example for AUS was I think e.g. 'Australia'?

Is 200 million in play?

Sure, but I'm firmly in the camp at this point that it's going to be closer to 150 than 200. That is, until I see some actual numbers.

And India: Excellent opening in India for #CaptainMarvel. Set for ₹15.5-16cr ($2.2-2.3mn) opening day, all time highest for a solo Superhero film. Overall only behind #InfinityWar.

Before Captain Marvel claims anything from number 3 to number 5, here are top 15 superhero openers in India. Only Hollywood ones, if I include local superhero films, 2.0, Krrish 3, Enthiran, RA.ONE and Krrish will be there. I am not sure about Spider-man 3 numbers.

Avengers: Endgame will easily top the chart, I am expecting around ₹47-50cr i.e. $6.9-7.7 million. Spider-man: Far From Home shall open to non-Avengers highest numbers.

Rank Title Year Total Gross (in crores) Total Net (in crores) Total Gross (in million)
1 Avengers: Infinity War 2018 ₹40.49 ₹31.33 $6.08
2 Avengers: Age Of Ultron 2015 ₹14.82 ₹10.98 $2.33
3 Deadpool 2 2018 ₹12.49 ₹9.68 $1.84
4 Captain America: Civil War 2016 ₹11.64 ₹8.53 $1.76
