As much as Cuarón directing Azkaban got double takes when it was announced, given that his last movie before had been Y Tu Mamá También, at least there was a well-regarded children's book adaptation in his background already. Then again, Eli Roth made a movie for kids last year, a kiddie scary movie granted, but nothing anyone would have pictured in his Hostel heyday. So you never truly know, but yeah, it's hard to see Phillips joining the Wizarding World Universe in any way. I can more easily picture him having one meeting with Rowling that would last 15 minutes because it ended in epic disaster.

It's not like Batman Returns didn't juggle a whole hell of a lot of biting satirical themes already. His Gothamites were so beaten down by the villainy, the rich, etc. they were just completely apathetic. 

 

The truest villain in it is a rich, corrupt, cunning megalomaniac that essentially controlled city. Shrek was more powerful with more backing and money than Wayne in that one.

Cuaron had done A Little Princess too. Which was and is adored by all that see it. So one is a children's fantasy and the other is R rated but coming if age.

 

So... Doesn't apply to him as much as you think. Had he only done Y Tu, doubt he gets that gig. Rowling LOVED his A Little Princess.

Salt Lake City counts at 2:00 PM local are doubling yesterday on average. Evening will be flat as it was already running at 95% capacity, but even so, I don't see how today comes in less than a 25-30% bump.

I was not following the discussion, just arrived at the last page of the thread, not sure if your post is meant to be serious, but for me personally that would be an awesome movie. Lois Lane was turned into a great character by Zack Snyder, as he always does with female characters. She could totally carry her own solo movie, especially with the wonderful Amy Adams back in the role. It probably doesn't make sense financially, or for the comic book movie subgenre, but I would totally love the idea of a Lois Lane movie.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Joker’s Saturday increase. It’s still early yet.

 

I’m still just really surprised by how well Joker has been connecting and holding up thus far. I liked it a whole lot and plan on going back for a repeat viewing, but it was so off-kilter that I was certain it would divide audiences. Apparently not, if we’re using it’s weekdays and second weekend drop as a gauge.

Joker is gonna have one bonkers hold here but that isn't stopping Gemini Man from exploding. Everything else is crashing under the height of these two combined. Angelina Jolie arrives in a few days as well. October is shaping up to be record breaking.
