Jokah run is truly legendary and it'll soon make history as the first R rated billionaire. And without China no less! :worthy:

Once Upon A Joker would have brought in that 20-30 from China needed for 1.1b 😊

But am happier with an unadulterated R-release.

Considering the ratings for Joker at Douban, I feel Venom kind of runwould have happened for Joker in Middle kingdom.

If they somehow had released it unedited in China, I'm sure it would have blown them away, WOM would've been incredible just like in the rest of the world.

Wow. Is it just me or is the second Maleficent doing better than the first movie internationally?

It's the USA that's letting the movie down right?

Damn impressive considering some people were already expecting the first movie to flop, then the second to do Alice 2 numbers.

I'm sure with halloween merchandise and everything considered, this movie will end up doing more than fine for Disney.

There's a lot of misinformation in here.

1. If you already have HBO through AT&T/DirecTV or HBO NOW,  you will get HBO Max at no additional charge.  It's also expected that AT&T wireless consumers will get HBO Max if they have unlimited data.   HBO isn't going to slash their base at all with this move.

2. HBO will end up making the same type of deals for their overseas base.

3. Netflix realizes how important "background noise" is they have all of the data and see how important Friends was.  That's why they bought the streaming rights to Seinfeld.  That's just the first of their purchases.  They are obviously making a play for more content beyond their originals.

I agree. Joker would be another Aquaman style hit for WB in China.

What are the chances WB makes play for a PG-13 Joker release in China?

Rough numbers for Terminator, obviously.

Strong holds for Joker (about to hit $300M), Maleficent, Addams Family (both certain to cross $100M), and Zombieland (gonna finish with a total similar to the first one). Countdown also had a confusingly good hold too. Clearly the openers being mostly shrugged off helped holdovers this weekend.

Harriet had a great opening. FWIW after seeing it I'm not surprised it got an A+ CS grade as my nearly sold out crowd yesterday of mostly seniors (be warned @WrathOfHan) clapped when it ended. I can see it legging it out to a Darkest Hour-esque total of $50M+.

Motherless Brooklyn flopped as expected and lmao Arctic Dogs. Don't think Jeremy Renner will be ditching that singing career of his that goes along with those MCU paychecks in the near future.

Very good expansion for Parasite and Jojo Rabbit but the latter is likely gonna fare much better in the long run. The Lighthouse has clearly maxed out and will fade from here though.

Perennial victims are the true heroes of our time.

What a soothing melody it must be to the soul to be able to say :

"I am a victim"

" victim of the system"

It even gives you big social status, depending on the country you live (hint : the west mostly).

There are objective reasons this movie is striking a chord.

Someday somehow, we will start to teach our youth/people to be responsible adults again.

I won't hold my breath though.

Meanwhile, the adults/elites make big money by giving The People juvenile films like The Joker to stay immature.

The irony of it all.

They laugh all their way to the bank.

But remember, people :

Fight the Power !

😂

Terminator numbers are a bit disappointing, but I would wait to see how it holds next weekend before declaring it a total disappointment. Joker made just $234 million worldwide on its opening weekend, and it's now going to pass $1 billion. With similar legs Dark Fate could pass $500 million worldwide.
