Bale’s really gonna be in two of the worst films of his career in a single year lol

I think The Pale Blue Eye may also be his worst reviewed outing with Scott Cooper. I haven't really heard much, but the fact that it skipped the fests and is getting dumped on Netflix on January 6 after a 2 week limited theatrical play... That's not Oscar qualifying, that's just appeasing the producers.

Sad. I hope by some miracle this movie isn't the disaster everyone is hyping it up as and is merely meh like Joy, and the cast can rope enough adults in to maybe go see something for adults

I have a hard time believing this is truly bad. There is so much talent involved.

For the sake of getting people into the theater, I'm just hoping for like Joy levels of reception. I think that article that came out today mentioned that it's premiering in NY this weekend? Definitely at latest September 21 in the UK, so we'll know soon

Oh, shame if that’s bad, I thought the premise sounded quite fun. Not awards material though.

Not sure why all these actors want to work this hack of a director. Poor Margot she been chasing that Oscar high since I, Tonya but now Twitter wants to cancel her.

Twitter is not real life.

I know this will probably sound like a reactionary hot take coming from me, but this movie could be the Godfather of it's generation and it would never, ever get good reviews. The discourse around DOR is just too negative right now, and rightfully so, that it's going to snowball/become a feeding frenzy. That said, I have no doubt the movie might well suck based on the shitty trailer and his last two movies being bad.

DOR is dead and buried. This movie was never gonna get good reviews. Like Cmaster said, the discourse around DOR is toxic (and also like he said, rightfully so). This was his last major movie at a studio for sure.

I admittedly don't know much about David Russel, but besides him it just feels like there's little awareness about this film in general. It has a staked cast and yet the trailers didn't really stand out and the marketing feels minimal at best.

I feel like this guy has a pretty accurate take on whats gonna happen to this movie.

Do we have any early reactions from this? Why many are already panning this as an epic fail quality-wise?

Edit: I have just seen there are a few reactions posted. It reminds me of some reactions for House of Gucci.
