So have nurses, don't see them going on strike. But yeah I'm the clown

They have, I also believe they should also get better work conditions and pay for what they have to deal with, in particular through the pandemic.

That had a 7 day opening.

It was unusually high, for the pandemic. £37.3m first week. Almost double the total gross of the nearest competitor.

£34.6 million I’m seeing @Krissykins

Where did you see the £37.3 million number? Or maybe screendaily’s figure didn’t include yesterday?

I think y'all are ignorning the most important factor. Why exactly would NTTD open better than Spectre?

There is no new attraction which can increment the numbers. It is basically just another Bond film which mostly aged people watch, not adding newer fans, so just like any ageing franchise, its gonna open lower.

Rest all is just noise.

-Finale factor with this being Craig's last movie

-Better reviews than Spectre

-Buzzier, splashier cast than Spectre, including Rami and Ana de Armas fresh off two massive box office hits

-Billie Eilish doing the theme song, who is a bigger deal than Sam Smith

It seems clear to me there were plenty more tools and hooks that indicate this would have done better Spectre pre-pandemic. And even now I still think going sub-70, especially after the immensely strong ticket sales at the beginning of its run, is kind of disappointing, even with all the circumstances

And before some of you start to breathe down my neck, yes I'm aware the film is still doing well here in the States and overseas. Yes I know there's a pandemic. Yes I know that adult audiences aren't coming back yet. You don't have to explain to me stuff I'm already aware about.

This particular aspect would be more meaningful if the song hadn't been released over 18 months ago pre-pandemic

I'm in the camp that says Eternals will somewhat disappoint, but we need something to break 250M. Biggest movie of the year is around 210M and that's pitiful.

Bond looks to disappoint this weekend, adults are not coming back just yet. Paramount did good in moving Top Gun 2 to next year. Hopefully no new variant emerges

I was never sure how much the "Craig's Last Ride" factor would generate an overwhelming amount of excitement when 1) his run of movies were considered sort of uneven (Casino Royale and Skyfall were beloved but Quantum of Solace and Spectre...not so much) and 2) everyone is accustomed to the fact that a new actor will take over as the next James Bond eventually after a certain number of years/movies. Kinda hard to build Endgame-esque "this is it" hype for anything based on that.

Even though Craig's films were uneven, it was never really attributed to Craig being the fault. He seems pretty universally well liked as Bond so I think that factor still meant something, as long as the movie itself was good.
