Didn't hit $45m for the weekend, FLOP

Still outrageous for Top Gun. Even after the surprising opening weekend, having nearly $475m domestic would have been the high end of my expectations, yet it’s there before it’s fifth weekend.

Idk exactly what to expect for this weekend, could drop expectedly near or over 40% thanks to an inflated weekend or 20% and neither would surprise me. Either way I’m expecting an insane hold on the July 1-3 weekend.

Republicans complaining about the lack of Tim Allen in Lightyear as some political agenda is even more hilarious knowing Disney is working with him currently on another Santa Clause project. So much for the "woke mob"!

Imagine if Tim has a gay kiss scene  (and one that lasts more than a second). Full elf/Santa orgy, and Santa kicks all the cis women elves out. lol

still feels unreal to see Top Gun 2 at $474M domestic and we're not even close to the end

it beggars belief to be honest.

There was me six weeks ago hoping it might hit $150 million. I’d have been well happy

I just put my review in the Lightyear thread, but holy horrible movie, Batman!

The legs on this - whatever I thought before, it's gonna be lower...

It has nothing for anyone in this movie, unless you're an aged 8-12 male and you don't care much about the original Toy Story...

Honestly can't wait to see how this weekend shapes up. Elvis should take the top spot, but it if ends up in the low 30s, it could be a three way battle for the top. Also 5 films will be over 20m. I hope The Black Phone does well, always rooting for horrors to perform great and it's a terrific film, so deserves it.

Overall pretty weak father day bump across. Of top 10, only one TGM managed to increase from Saturday on FD, compared to six(!) movies in 2019, three in 2018, and two in 2017. It is pretty disappointing holiday bump especially given that Monday behave like a semi-holiday, but this year FD bump isn’t stronger than normal years.

Holiday bump still isn’t back yet, signalling some permanent loss of family business.

Regal showing late 10pm IMAX shows Friday for Maverick,  so let's see

I tried to tell everyone we were going to see split IMAX with TGM making a return this upcoming weekend …

… but that’s also the worst possible time slot for it. It’s so not a late night movie given the age skew. Better to have JWD playing late instead

TGM was the defacto Father’s Day movie so it hurt anything else

With demand for IMAX and maybe 1 showing,  it should still sell well

An opening in the 20’s would be an underperformance for Elvis. It’s been marketed heavily, for what feels like ages. It has to be $30m+. Booked tickets for Sunday afternoon, because it’s 2hr40m long.

Seeing “The Black Phone” tomorrow night and can’t wait.

Just checked my local theater and they just added their IMAX showings for this weekend (Friday through Sunday). 9 showings for Jurassic World Dominion, 3 showings for Lightyear and 0 for Top Gun. Also looks like Dominion will remain their IMAX movie all next week too, with just one of their showings being for Lightyear
