That's an interesting point. Hadn't thought about it that way, that she wants to give birth to a child that is destined to die a few years later. That's selfish and inhumane.

 

 

I respect the criticisms about her doing it without letting Renner know, but I think this is the wrong way to look at her decision. If she decides not to have the child at all, her daughter essentially dies right there and doesn't get the 16-17 years of life she would've had.  That sounds a hell of a lot more selfish to me.

The movie asks you to stop thinking with past, present and future, cause, consequence that s not how the aliens and Amy s character experience things at all.

 

Amy s character does not see the future at all.

She's also the best thing about the movie and what makes it work, so for it to be nominated for almost everything but her performance is mind boggling.

I am deeply saddened that Amy Adams is not up for an award this year.  Too agree she was better than Emma Stone, in a movie that was better than La La Land.  If she feels snubbed I think she was.

I was so oblivious that I didn't realize that they didn't announce the title change until June.

This would not have been a success under the title Story of Your Life.

Finally saw Arrival yesterday. Amazed with how great it was. Can't believe AMPAS didn't nom Amy Adams. She is incredible in the movie!
