Fast X | May 19 2023 | Part 1 of an epic finale trilogy | Critics say Jason Momoa does a good job

The SW sequel trilogy followed the JW trilogy the same way funnily enough. First was phenomenon, second divided fanbase, third was a dumpster fire. Both trilogies even had their first directors leaving then coming back for the 3rd.

At least the Jurassic World trilogy held better offer 3 installments than the Jurassic Park trilogy did. JP3 didn't even crack 400m after JP1 did over 900m.

And JW 2 with so called awful reception did same as Universally acclaimed Cultural Phenomenon Black Panther.

And how reception has anything to do with their box office? It's just silly, IPs have different levels of popularity and appeal in different markets, it has nothing do with reception. Transformers sequels did a billion each at one point.

It dropped from JW1 by 360 mln. Not sure what you mean by perfomance, I think it's just the case of a franchise being average Joe driven and not fan driven. The same movie with SW type of fanbase would result in much bigger drops and more noise.

SW has put out plenty of terrible films and yet is still around :Venom:

Whole point was about that does Jurassic Park needs revival?

I can guarantee that next part will open to triple digits opening too, while Fast is struggling for that. Even in International which were Fast strengths are going down.

A Dominion more and then I'll agree with that, but as of now, Jurassic franchise is in better position than Fast franchise.

Also Fast franchise flavor of the day which is now getting bit sour while Jurassic Franchise is and will always be backed by the Legacy of one of the most influential movie ever made.

The fact that it is a "Jurassic Park" movie gives it a relevance.

Yeah reactions today seems fine, feeling another case of very mixed reviews on MC but fresh on RT [like 65-70%] which can help it a bit

That would be good after all the doom and gloom around here. 10th installment still managing these scores.

A final final trailer the week of release? Man they must really not like the tracking they're seeing for such a desperate late marketing tactic.

Refuse to check out any spoilers. Want to experience what people are freaking out over with fresh eyes when I see it this weekend.

And the longest one at that. It's like you have seen the whole film.

Fast X’ To Run Circles Around The World With Near $300M Opening – Box Office Preview

This clown goes above and beyond to spin this nonsense. He is a FRAUD. A HUCKSTER. A CHARLATAN

Quote
  • it’s totally turbo-boosted overseas - That would get Fast X to $295M worldwide, making it the third-best global start for a Fast & Furious movie. And that’s nothing to be ashamed about - SPIN!
  • It’s a start that beats such movies such as BOX OFFICE JUGGERNAUT Justice League ($278.8M, 2017) - SPIN!
  • Presales on Fast X (in China) are currently below those of F9. It is leading previews and presales for the coming days, but this is a wait-and-see game.  - SPIN!
  • That opening though is lower than the average domestic debut for the franchise through nine titles (not counting spinoff Hobbs & Shaw) of $75.8M. Still, it’s an amount of cash to keep theater traffic flowing in May post Guardians - SPIN !

This is kind of wild to think about, especially when you consider that Furious 7 broke out big in the US

Looks like that streak dies with Fast X since forecasts are predicting not too much higher than $100 million in China.

RT% means nothing for this.  Point blank.  People know full well what to expect at this point and if it delivers for overseas audiences that's all that's going to matter.

I did not love the last couple of them though.  I really would like this to be more like 'Fast Five' because that was a very well done action movie that was not winking at the audience.  That was just a movie with cool stunts and was like "here,  this is cool, watch this" without the director trolling.

Obviously the very first The Fast and the Furious movie is my all time favorite but they'll never get back to that level.  Too low stakes and they never have a writer that's interested in that witty type of dialogue.

You think Ayer penned most of the script?  It's obviously the best script of these.
