The first press screening just ended about 10 mins ago, as tweeted by Brandon Davis... you posted over an hour ago. Not buying it.

You mean YOU think it will be dead because YOU didn’t like it? Look, I’ve said it to some others before and now i’m saying it to ya. Not one person’s opinion will massively affect on what other people will think about Venom.

 

I mean, no one was that stupid to assume a massively rejected drop for a $1.3B WW-grosser like JW:FK this year, because of the hatred from some folks here. And yet that film won as the #1 film WW of the summer (say what you will about IW, but that film came out in the Spring-slot in April, despite looking like a summer-movie).

And I'm not saying that Venom CAN'T be well received because of course it can but usually Empire tries to divorce his personal opinion from how a film will actually be received. He might be completely wrong about Venom but then again he might be right.  People purposefully misread his Wonder Woman post. Independent of his opinion, it is weird that we haven't gotten early word rumors on Venom when we have early rumors on films coming out in December. That screams a studio being unsure of a film at the very least. Maybe the studio are being idiots and don't know that they have a good film on their hands but they obviously are nervous about it.
