Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | Nov 11 2022 | Starring 2023 Best Supporting Actress Oscar Nominee Angela Bassett. She did not do the thing!

I think it's totally possible that there's no fixed Black Panther in this movie, it could be multiple people taking up the mantle ala Spartacus. Everywhere in the promotions for this movie, Wakanda Forever is being highlighted more than Black Panther itself, the movie is about the kingdom rather than individuals.

Talking about box office .Think This will be more profitable than TLT even with mixed reception.

Where would you put your "disappointment/underwhelming bar  at ?

Any thing below 900m(450/450) would be disappointing  IMO

Underwater scenes should prop up the production  budget .

The trailer convinced me this gonna be huge. Very emotional, and it really looks like an event film. The opening should be great. Legs shold be helped with the lack of competition in second weekend and the lucrative Thanksgiving Holiday.

They aren't stupid. Movies don't work if there's no clear protagonist and antagonist. So they can highlight Wakanda all they want in promos, but there will be a clear hero in the movie, even in a scenario where there may be multiple people taking up the mantle as you put it. No movie is truly an ensemble. There's always one character that dominates. This won't be different cause that's film-making 101. So whoever is the costumed BP from the end of the trailer (figure is pretty obviously female so scratch M'Baku) is your BP or BP Prime (if there's more than 1).

If they make Shuri the new Black Panther, I can see a hero's journey of sorts. Imagine if Rey was strong but got her ass whipped by Kylo the first time. Imagine if she had complete doubts and thought she couldn't do anything at all. I can see them going with Shuri wanting to desperately take on her brother's role and getting beaten badly-maybe even close to death (as Angela Basset said "my family is gone"). Then something happens and she gets a new "re-birth" of sorts.

The idea of family was pushed hard in the trailer. They are all, in essence, a big family: T'Challa's family plus Nakia, Oyoye, M'Baku, etc. But the idea of family itself seems to be running strong. Maybe Shuri becoming the new BP is an underdog story of the one least likely to wear that suit. Nakia, Okoye, M'Baku, and even Riri all seem to have fighting or weapons. Shuri is an intellectual so her becoming BP will honor the family, as long as they don't make her a Mary Sue and have incredible abilities right away. She'll have to work for it hopefully. And if they make it a meaningful, emotional journey, then it may be the best and most emotional direction they can take.
