(Gremlins 2 is High High HIIIIIIIIGH PRAISE, as far as I am concerned)

Yeah same. Saw Gremlins 2 a couple months ago and it's one of those movies were there isn't a single second I don't find enjoyable. Highest praise a franchise film going for satire could get for me.

I don't understand a lot of the criticism of the action to be honest. It's no where near as good as say the lobby shoot out, that is true, but that in itself is a homage to stuff like GiTS. If you go in to this expecting to watch the OG Matrix I can understand why people wouldn't enjoy it. BUT going in with the context of 20+ years later? In our current socio-cultural landscape? The action was fantastic IMO. The rest about the romance/divisiveness I totally understand. The stuff about the action? Doesn't make sense to me.

I also feel like people are overstating just how action packed the first film was. There’s actually a hell of a lot of talking and exposition in the original film, it’s only really in the last half hour when they’re trying to rescue Morpheus when it kicks into higher gear in terms of action.

Reloaded/Revolutions were far more action packed, and in my opinion that’s why the sequels lost that thing that made the original special. As cool as some of the action scenes were, it felt like they inverted the action to story ratio  and they suffered as a result because you just weren’t as invested in what was going on.

I have no problem with Resurrections being more “talky”, infact I’d prefer it.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I read action here is nowhere near as good as any action scene in the trilogy, especially stuff like this:

People who saw it claim there are too many cuts in Ressurections' action scenes and they couldn't see shit in some scenes because of camerawork. No idea if it's true, but dodjo clip on Youtube looked badly edited and shot.

So really meta and focused on Neo-Trinity romance? Eh. Makes sense from the trailers, but doesn't sound like the kind of Matrix sequel that would appeal to me.

Though the action being bad isn't that big of a deal to me. Honestly I liked the freeway stuff in Reloaded more than any action in the original, but the first movie is still so much better because it has that energy and mystery throughout.

It's not that he used simple words, it's that most of these first reaction tweets come across as if someone's spamming the 'synonym' feature on MS Word to sound smarter and boost up their wordcount.

The tweets on the last couple pages felt I was reading through my daughters school homework.

most worried about the talk of how "funny" the movie is because for the most part i think the attempts at humour in previous wachowski movies have been pretty cringe.

The jokes are actually pretty good in this one. The first hour of the movie is A+, that's where the entire meta element is present in a big way. The second act is definitely the make or break as that's the exposition dump, people liking or hating the movie will completely come down to that hour of the movie.
