Cooper Legion
I know that “well reviews are good, maybe it will leg well with WOM” is a natural response to a possible lower than hoped opening. But as a word of caution I think it needs to be said that Shazam had really good domestic reviews as well, probably even better than where BoP will land. For me I thought people said Shazam didn’t connect overseas cause of a few things (besides the obvious arrival of EG), I thought the comedy didn’t land overseas in a lot of markets and it seemed like people said it was childish. I was hoping the action and humour in this would be more suited for overseas audiences(and older crowds) then say Shazam but that was just me hoping that would happen. I haven’t seen the movie and can’t say anything about it but it doesn’t seem like wom is great in any overseas markets it’s opened in yet. Comedy for most part was lame. The only genuine laugh I remember I had in whole film was when in final fight Shazam and Dr guy are far away from each other and couldn't hear each other. Manny G
Rotten Tomatoes always plays game when it comes to DC movies. The excuse with Aquaman and Joker was it wasn’t steady enough what’s the excuse now it’s damn near 100 reviews and even gone below 89% since it’s initial drop. Valonqar
So objectively speaking, Harley is not a star name OS and Margot is not a star OS. As bad as SS was, it had Will Smith and Joker. So 2 big draws. This shows a bit of a gap between American cultural icons and OS ones. Harley didn't translate OS at least not yet.
ZeeSoh
4 hours ago, Krissykins said: The majority of audiences and critics seem to disagree with you about Shazam. He probably meant international or in particular asian audiences. Comedies are difficult to translate and in many cases are culture dependent which is a hindrance. This is why GOTG movies do relatively poorly OS (compared to similarly rated MCU movies and looking at its dom gross). Slapstick comedies are more easier to get across. 2 hours ago, Manny G said: Rotten Tomatoes always plays game when it comes to DC movies. And it doesn't matter when it comes. Its not like people are waiting for it get certified before buying tickets.

a2k
Would like the OS to hit 150 mark. With prod budget being only 85, there's a good chance that Dom returns itself recover that. 150 dom * 0.55 = 82.5 Even feeble OS returns will eat into the global marketing spent sufficiently enough to make the movie profitable. I’d consider 80% of that a good result at this point. Could we see 95+140? I hope not, but I wouldn’t be shocked.

I think OS is DOA but domestically this can come close or do on par with Shazam/Ant-man (the former more than the latter obv).

While that may be true, I don't think Warner would be thrilled by one of their superhero movies getting such a low BO worldwide, or that they would be in any hurry to produce a sequel - when they can try something else and hope to get something half as successful as Joker instead. Also, $150M DOM is almost optimistic at this point... 4
keysersoze123
I think next Quinn movie needs Joker or Batman for a small role. Or even Green Arrow.
