Weekend Thread: Actuals - Invisible Man 28.2, Sonic 16.26, Call of the Wild 13.36

Recommended Posts

The Invisible Man did great this weekend. It could be in the running for a total over $100M, though $90M seems more likely (unless COVID-19 completely kills the box office in the weeks ahead).

Emma. also had a great expansion. Could become a mini-breakout when it goes wide next weekend.

Get Out's IM = 3.08x

The Invisible Man = 2,95x

@Valonqar @Litio At the end of day, despite some persons here laughing at us for saying it would've have an IM closer to GO, both movies ended almost identical.

Bodes well for legs.

Indeed! :bravo:

And TIM's official number should go up.
"Get Out" made almost $ 3 million more than Universal was estimating on Sunday.

Saw Birds Of Prey last night. It was actually a really good movie!

The Invisible Man’s debut is so far an excellent start! While it won’t be like the leggy sensation of Get Out, Universal and Blumhouse should be quite thrilled with the result as Universal has had so far only one major hit prior to Invisible Man. Opening weekend comparisons are tough to compare, same with domestic total but I’m gonna say $70-$80 million domestic wouldn’t be surprising.

Sonic is doing quite solid for Paramount. Holds are so far excellent. $165 million domestic will definitely happen for this!

Call Of The Wild holding alright. But if the film had a $50-$60 million budget I would say this would’ve been a modest to decent hit, but $125 million or so budget was ridiculous. $65-$70 million is it’s target.

Call of the Wild

Adding 3x it's 2nd weekend will give it 85-86 dom. (45.86 + 13.20*3.0)

OS is just 33+ it seems. Wonder if it can make it to 200 ww.

Sonic

16 dom + 26.8 os = 42.8 weekend for 265.5 ww

48 dom (3 * 16) and 67 os (2.5 * 26.8) gives 115 more for 380.5 ww without China.

Birds of Prey

4.1 dom + 4.6 os = 8.7 weekend for 188.4 ww

10+ dom and 11+ os will take it to 210 ww

So, Dolittle is gonna win the WW match up going away...damn...and I thought it would at least go down to the wire...

So, it seems like the 1st 2 months of movies (all without China) will go Bad Boys 3, Sonic, and Dolittle WW...not what I would have expected before the start of the year, and definitely not in that order...

Why did Box Office Pro say the PG-13 rating should help The Invisible Man at the box office?

Teens who weren't allowed to go in without an adult were able to watch it.
