They just now have the chance to prove themselves, Spies in Disguise hasn't even come out yet, Nimona is slated for release in Sept. 2021 (and could be a game changer if the source material is honored), and there is already talk of the studio being relegated to Disney+. Tragic.

Tbf that seems to be THR speculating more than any concrete word from Disney. The change in leadership isn't a bad development in of itself.

The report saying Spies' budget is ballooning is concerning. Blue Sky's generally kept their budgets in good check.

Interesting they had modest budgets compared to the Los Angeles studios. Or the Bay Area studio that Pixar has.

Blue Sky headquarters are in one of the richest suburbs of the NYC area.

Been going through the Alien series as of late (arguably my favorite movie series)... Alien is still as good as I remember it, the first 45 minutes are some of the best buildup I have ever seen. Aliens just might be one of the best action movies of all time. Alien 3 is a step down for sure (it's somewhat dull and repetitive at times) but still has a lot going for it; a lot of atmosphere, a great score, and one of the most iconic moments in the entire franchise of the xenomorph breathing next to Ripley's bald head.

@SLAM!, as a fellow conservative, what's your take on Trump?

I would have preferred Cruz or Kasich. Some of what Trump's done is legitimately decent--like the bill he did with Kanye West that benefited musicians on streaming services, and the action he's taken to reinforce the court system to make it more fair for minorities. But it's his behavior that's making me look into the prospect of supporting a moderate democratic candidate. If he's up against someone like Warren or Sanders who want to take away health care choices and things like that, I'm voting for Trump. If he's up against someone like Delaney or Klobuchar, it'll be a much more difficult decision for me. My preferred president is someone that understands humility instead of someone who comes from a silver spoon type of background. Capitalism, not socialism, and sure as heck not the cronyism of Trump's big business background, is what I want this country to hold dear.

I have game plans for how I, as a conservative American, will march forward with my personal ideologies depending on what side wins the presidency and the majority. I know to think before I say the words that I say. I know that I am just one voter, just one mind, just one tongue. I know to be tolerant and considerate. And hopefully others are tolerant and considerate to me as well. So I think I'm in a fine position whichever way the cards fall.

Great post. You and I sound pretty aligned, especially the bold. The silver spoon and cronyism is the kind of stuff I dislike about Trump and leaders like him. He says he wants to put America first and I believe him to a degree. That is to say, I think he puts money, and those with a lot of it, first. I'm all about putting one's nation - and every single citizen from all social classes in it, especially multi-generational ones - first, not bettering the 1% even more.

I support Maxime Bernier and the PPC here in Canada. There is a lot of what he calls crony capitalism running rampant in this country and he seeks to get rid of all that, bring in less immigrants - especially those who work for dirt cheap because their families back home support them - and educate/train more Canadians. Our veterans, our senior citizens and our multi-generational Canadians from the middle and lower class are struggling mightily and getting the bare minimum support. That has to change, and it starts with having a non-globalist, non-liberal leader with some strength and national pride.

I never said I like Trump. I just think TL sounds like just as much of an idiot there.

Re: Trump, all I'll say is this: I loathe Trump the person and anyone like him. However, I like Trump's politics (not every single policy, mind you, just his general platform). He's not a globalist and that's refreshing, among other things. I'd take him over our PM in Canada in a heartbeat. He's worse.

lol you really are MAGA.

That sound a bit surrealist:

Middle class senior citizen in Canada are struggling now ?

In 2016 the median net worth of a senior family in Canada was of 763K

I know your citing legitimate stats, but I find that median VERY hard to believe. More than ever senior citizens are having to work until they die because their pension is pitiful. Not all can live a life of luxury in their senior years if they don't plan and save, but the government can do better. I'd have to dig up the number but basic pension is embarrassing. Basic welfare as well. All so the various ministers and higher ups can have huge, bloated salaries (Translink CEO just got a huge totally unnecessary raise to over $500K!).

You suggested I'm a MAGA and I picture you all horrified and stuff. Typical. If you don't align with the left, you're a fascist/Nazi/neanderthal or what have you. Try to keep your cool and debate intelligently. I have nothing against you.

I think cannastop is saying that Trump is a package deal.  You can't take the policies you like (trade, anti-globalism, tax cuts) without owning all the horrific stuff he peddles in (white nationalism, eroding the rule of law, immigration hysteria).

Yes, usually politicians ARE a "I like this, but not that".  However some folks are just so past the goal line that it really is "You broke it, you bought it".

Of course we have a whole section of the forum for politics in general AND a couple of dedicated topics for US politics in specific, so probably best to keep the rest of the convo there.

finally got around to watching the second season of big little lies. literally they spent the whole time talking about the first season. nothing new happens. it's like a season long clip show for the previous season. like if the entire second season of game of thrones was "damn, remember when ned stark got killed? that was crazy. how do we feel about that?"
